Dog likes Sherry !

Oh NO !! I dipped my finger into a glass of sherry thinking that Sprinkle would dislike it.
To my horror she licked her lips and looked for more, I dipped another finger back in and she couldn't lick it off quickly enough Happy Christmas.

Out of the 6 ferrets I've had over the years, I've only had 1, my beautiful Winnie, who would always sniff out a cup of coffee or a glass of red wine from a mile off! none of the others had or have shown any interest at all.
She was a girl after my own heart (and other than letting her roll around in an empty mug or glass, which she loved, she never got more than a sniff, unless of course she was quicker than me!)

Ours have not been interested alcoholic beverages at all, but for some reason our Ella is VERY interested of my coffee. She is always poking her nose close to my mug. And if we are not careful, that little bleeder will soon jump up on chair to reach a mug and flick her tongue into tea....particularly if we've already managed to do a bickie dip ...that tea must smell so tempting for her

We once had a different dog who got herself well and truly pissed on some lovely sweet Sloe gin
I had dropped a bottle and before I was able pick to up the bottle and mop up the contents my little Cocker decided that she would help.
It wasn't too long before she was walking into doors and bumping her head. We had to carry her up to bed with us and make sure she was safely wedged between us to prevent her falling off the bed. Next morning she was still a bit groggy so she came to work with me and slept it off on the front seat of my car, I went outside frequently offering her drinks of water and lot's of wee's. She recovered fully but we had to take care that we put our glasses with Sloe gin in out of her reach.

I have never made such a nice Sloe gin since that year.

Thanks @excuseme , that's just reminded me to give my latest batch of sloe gin a loving stir and a wee taste of course!
My forest berries, red current and fennel one was absolutely yummy, wish I'd made more of that!

This made me chuckle..reminded me of a few years ago when we got our 1st husky..6months old and full of fun..racing around the house until that fateful.sound .....SILENCE.! One thing I have come to realise is NEVER trust a silent husky..the cheeky little minx had only gone and raided a little.bottle.of.tequila that I had been gifted from a friend after their trip to Mexico..the bugger had managed to chew off the seal and was happy.lay on the sofa guzzling away like an old hombre!..needless to say she ended up with plaited legs and a neurotic momma racing her off to the vets in a state of despair..just to be prescribed send her to bed and let her sleep it off! ..No more does alcohol sit adorning shelves in our house!

Jasper doesn't seem interested in alcohol, but you had to watch my pair of rats when you had beer, or they'd be dipping their whiskers in your glass!

How much fennel per ltr ?

Um, it's hard to say because I kind of make it up as I go!
I always start as a base line with half the amount of sugar to fruit per litre, then tweak it to taste as it goes. I used the flower heads just as they were turning to soft seeds, pinched them to release the flavour a bit then added. I love the taste of fennel so I did add more about 3 weeks in. If I remember right I think I used about half a dozen whole heads, maybe with a few frondy bits thrown in too, roughly...!
I felt quite virtuous drinking it through winter as with the red currants too it was full of vit C and felt very healthy
