Desktop Makes/brands

Just wondered if anyone could advise on Desktop makes/brands

My son has broken his laptop by letting it fall on the floor :rant: So is going to get a desktop instead for starting uni. can anyone recommend what makes to go for and what not to go for! I have a Dell it is not bad and we had a Packard Bell before that. Also does anyone know if you can plug the tower into a plasma tv instead of having to get a monitor as he will have limited space in his bedroom!!!

Don't know about makes but OH says if you look at the TV you will know whether you can conect a computer up to it . Somewhere like PC world would be able to help you . Would your son not be better with a laptop though in case he wants to take it into the uni library etc to do work ?

Hi Alison,

I wouldn't really know what I am looking for as far as connecting to TV :- I am not technical at all neither is James unfortunately!!!!

I think a desktop will take up too much space in his room.

I think he would be better getting another laptop as well but he doesn't seem to have much luck with them, they are always breaking. He has had three since High school! The first was a Toshiba it wasn't too bad but the 2nd I can't remember and the one he has just dropped is a Lenevo. He said maybe he should try a Sony next! I said it won't matter what he tries next if he drops it :rant: !!!! Also he said he would be able to play more games on a desktop, which is a bad idea when he is meant to be focused on studying!!!

Don't know anything about them but this one is an advent which I have had for 3 years and I use it a lot ! :-

If I can I will take him down to PC world this evening and compare the laptops with the desktops! I think he better get the insurance cover as well!!

I got mine from pc world it an acer aspire 57202.

I like it.

do I sound good or what coped the make from the laptop. 8)

In the end he got another laptop :- He got a Hewlit Packard. Let's hope it lasts longer than the previous ones!!! He was swithering on a Sony but it was too pricey :sweating:
