Hi can anyone help with the following:

Key considerations before adopting a: Dachshund, Lancashire Heeler, Min Pin,JRT?

Do any other similar-looking dogs make good companions?

Thanks

Rather than the look, maybe think of the behavioural characteristics of the different breeds?

I would also look at it from the direction of considering the characteristics you would like/can tolerate in a dog, and what personality would suit your situation... then look for a breed that matches which appeals to you.

And also what you don't want - e.g. slobber, high grooming needs, high prey drive, lots of barking.......

Main consideration for a pet is health & temperament, then your lifestyle & training needs of the dog, then short list the breeds that have the traits you like & then research each breed & if possible visit one of the Discover Dogs events held by the Kennel Club to see the breeds in the flesh.
Be aware there are several types of Jack Russell's, the Parson Russell Terrier & the Jack Russell Terrier which are both KC reckonised breeds & the unregistered short legged JRT.
