This may be a daft question but why are IGs considered toy dogs and not sight hounds? Is it because of their size or something else?

Must be, and I for one don't think it is a daft question at all.

In FCI countries they are included in the sighthound group. But then, yorkies (in my mind one of the classic toy dogs) are included in the terrier group in FCI countries, and the pomeranian is classified as a spitz. I guess it is hard to classify breeds in a way that makes sense to everyone.

I would love them to be moved to the Hound group it would save going to some shows on different days (w00t)

Yes that has been said :- "

I do believe mine are referred to as Whippets behind my back (w00t)

Do I care? I dont think so

Slightly of the topic but we were at a show a couple of weeks ago and not

having greyhound classes had entered William into not separately classified and

there in the ring next to us was the tiniest blue and white iggie. Well it was tiny

compared tp William .The look on Wiliam's face was one of complete shock as if to

say- have you been on a boil wash and shrunk . He just did not understand why

this tiny little dog looked like him but was sooooo small

The judge kept giving them strange looks too

By the way if I remeber corectly the igie was 3rd and William 5th

couldn't get any pictures as OH hadn't taken his camera

greyhounds are so funny!

when they meet my whippets they usually just have a sniff or ignore them, but when they see my iggies they usually look horrified or disgusted!!!!!

we've never yet met a greyhound who has actually liked them - not that I blame them, they really are a pair of moos :- "

When my greyhounds meet other greyhounds they are all cuddly and "hello please to meet you, do you know my ancestors?" :- "

When the meet 'normal' dogs (ie not greys, whippies etc) they bounce up and down, twirl around and SCREEEAAAMMMM!!!!!!

I hope my boys would like an iggy cos I definitely want an iggy at some point!
