One of my whippies has suffered a lot with a corn. She had an op to remove it with a 50:50 chance of reoccuring - it did come back so I wouldn't recommend surgery. Hers is worse in cold weather and on gravelly pavements. I use a soft silicon nail file to gently file off the hard bit and then put a moisturiser on the pad. This seems to help, but I think it is more of a case of controlling it rather than getting rid of it. I might get her a bootie for the winter. Hope this helps
