Hi All,

I'm a little worried about my dog. I have a 19 month old Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen.

She eats ok, when out for a walk, she walks fine, (we did an 90 minute walk yesterday). Her bodily functions are ok.

She gets lots of exercise a minimum of 2hrs a day.

The reason I am worried is that recently her behaviour has changed a little.

In between walks she just lies around a lot more that she used to. She getting up and wanders around but not as much.

We sit in the garden, she stays indoors a lot.

She no longer plays as much as she did.

She loves chewing on nylon bones etc, she hasn't done this anywhere near as much as she normally does.

Does she not like home life anymore ?

It's been warm recently in the UK, but I cannot see this being the only reason.

When I see her running around off the lead with other dogs or wagging on a long walk, she's seems fine.

Am I worrying for no reason ?

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

is the dog whining? plus the dogs dont like hot warm sticky weather so could be a point.. is the poop ok? is it being sick? if not then sounds ok to me..

she sounds content to me, just getting past her puppy years, and chilling out in the cool. The dogs at work have deserted me this summer and gone and hid indoors, my boy still tries to brave the heat, but even he has had to retreat.

yours sounds like she is happy and satisfied by her walks, and if she's not in pain or poorly, then i'd not worry too much, hounds can be a bit lazy indoors!
