Just wondered if anyone on here knows of any good insurance companies that insure young drivers?

My son is 18 and have just had a couple of Quotes and just as a named driver and myself as the main driver they are coming up at £3,500 - £4,500 (w00t) And that is for a 2003 plate! Anyone any ideas or advice?

When my two were that age I tried everywhere and found Direct Line to be the cheapest . Can't remember what it cost but it was not anything like the prices you have there .

With Direct Line, as a named driver, he will be able to build up no claims himself !! But that does seem a lot of money

I tried Direct line as that is who I am with for my Almera and I have 12 years protected No claims bonus, but they said they would not insure him unless he was 21 or over for this car  It is a Peugot 206cc 1.6 not exactly a Porche!!!!! I have tried the internet for 3rd party fire and theft and Quinn Direct are 1800 for him to be named and £2323 for him to be the sole driver. Even 3rd party prices seem ridiculous! Not even sure what 3rd party fire and theft is :- As I have always been fully comp

Maybe the problem is the engine size . I was only getting insurance for a Polo 1.2 . It might be cheaper to change the car ?

also was on a 1.2 3yr old clio insurance group 4 and later on 2.0 peugeot

My son is 19 yrs old- He is paying £47-00 per month-fully comp-no claims protected-C-I-S insurance

this includes....£80 for option of paying monthly and extra charge for no claims protection

He's driving a Metro 1 litre engine

I am the main driver-he is named

I'm 21 and paying £47 per month as a named driver on a 1.2 8v Punto Active 03 plate (fully comp. etc. etc.) with the Post Office.

Peugeots and Citroens (especially 206 and Saxo) are notoriously known for being "boy racers" cars and sadly young drivers are penalised for it whether they're boy racers or not.

Thanks everyone. The cheapest that is coming up seems to be Quinn direct at £2,232.74. 3rd party fire and theft Apparantly it is classed as a high performance car. That is in his name as the proposer but only £400 less if in my name. So better of in his, as he will hopefully be able to build up NCB!!!! All the insurance companies everyone has mentioned won't insure him as he is under 21 with that model of car. Put a deposit on it now so will have to go ahead or will lose the deposit!

Thanks for all your help and advice

Kirsty
