I thought they could if uncooked. Cooked bones splinter.

Yes they can eat uncooked bones. As for why - do you think foxes and wolves pick out all the bones from their meals? They are designed to eat bones!

Hmmm, dunno about sugar, but I guess they can as an ingredient in other foods, but I happily stand to be corrected. I wouldn't feed my dog just a load of sugar on its own though

Well I don't see why they can't. It's not going to be good for them though, just empty calories and bad for their teeth.
