Just got new camera and took lots of nice piccies :) then i put the picture card into the slot on the computer ( not used this before) and a red light came on the tower next to it and nothing happened  so i put the card back in camera and when i turn it on its now saying 'card error' on the cameras LCD screen  I tried another pic card in the computer and that also did nothing - but when i put that one back in the camera it worked as normal and i ended up transfering pics onto computer via the USB cable...

but prob is the first card still keeps saying error  ive gently wiped the contact area and there doesnt seem to be any marks on it. Is it possible the data on their has been damaged by it not working in computer and ive lost all my pics!!??? is there anything i can do? and is this a common prob or is it just idiots like me that dont know what they are doing? :b

Irecon you've lost you're pix,as ive one here with all Megan's pix on,when she gave birth to Scruff, and i can't get to them.Took the card to some computer whizz people, but they could do nothing for me.On other occasion's when this happened to me,i had to format the card's to get them going again, but lost all my oix in the formating process,as you do. Sorry this has happened to you,but it look's like you will have to try formatting the card. ...Billy...

bump, just in case anyone knows if anything can be done o:)

When you put the slot in have you tried acessesing it through my computer?

Firstly don't take any more photos with the card and don't format the card.

The only option is to try some sort of digital image recovery software, there's a tutorial and downloads here> http://www.z-a-recovery.com/demo-ir.htm

I recommend you don't put your card in the card reader and use the USB cable for image transfers, I've heard about this causing problems before and I suspect taking cards in and out probably increases the chace of them being damaged.

If you get the images back, I'd be inclined to bin the card and buy another card for future use. If it doesn't work, keep the card, don't format it and let me know and I'll see if there's any more options.

thanks alot for that , i will look at the links you have posted  Dont worry i wont 'format' it cause ive not got a clue what that means or how to do it!! (w00t) I cant take any more pics with it anyway cause when i put it in camera it just says card error and the camera bleeps and wont let me do anything!!

Will try the links and def use the usb in future! Its the first time id downloaded pics from new camera and had never used the slot before, thought id give it a go and look what happens!

Thanks again anyway :huggles:
