Hi.

I take mine once a week to a greyhound schooling track at Bicester which they absolutely love. I asked the chap who runs it whether it would be possible to arrange fun races there and he said it would be fine. So I thought I would start an Oxfordshire Sighthound club. We could go there for racing once a month or something simillar.

I am very keen to keep it as fun and light hearted as possible so any types of dogs can come (I've got a friend with a seriously fast lab). We'll handicap them according to weight to make it fair.

All dogs would have to be muzzeled.

Anyone interested?

We've also been discussing the possiblity of a walk on Port Meadow one day with a stop for lunch at a pub so again anyone interested in arranging a date for that?

Olivia

ps the track is very safe and well maintained. The sand gets flattened and watered about once every half hour.

would this be open to people who live outside of the exclusive Oxfordshire area? :- "

 Of course- anyone who can get to us..............

Good point, maybe we should meet in bicester or Oxford and go in convoy..........

I went about 20 miles wrong the first time I went- got to Aylesbury instead........

I can do a special map (once I've made sure I know how to get there this time :b ) Finding the right turn off the Aylesbury road was the bit I found difficult.

As I live just outside Bicester I think that would be a superb idea!

I never even knew there was a greyhound training track nearby!

If there was enough of a breed/type we could even have lurcher/IG/Whippet/others races... Sounds like fun!

Look forward to hearing more details.

As an ex- Oxfordshire-ite I'd love to come once a month, Yvette

..and to think I used to live in Bicester  ......bit far to come now.

Good luck...sounds like it could be great fun!! :teehee:

would have to speak to my OH to see how far it is as im useless at that kinda thing (w00t)

Would love to come once a month maybe  , got a feeling its gonna be too far though :(

Hi - have been away but just catching up - sounds a great idea, Olivia

When would it start? If we're aiming for evening meetings, the nights will be drawing in soon :(

Oh I'm just so jealous, this whole thing sounds like the best idea in the whole world but even on a monthly basis, a bit too far - it'd probably be a 1000 mile round trip for me. Count me in (in spirit) :(

From what Jeff was saying I think it'll be Sunday mornings

Sounds good to me and I will be able to take Aimee ................. no pulleys!! Yay!!

OK there seem to be a good number of people interested. I won't be able to get Sundays organised till the end of the Lurcher show season on 18th Sept.

I think they'll insist that all the dogs trial first to check they run well on the track so if anyone wants to come and have a trial I go every wednesday morning so PM me for directions.

If not see you all at the end of September

(unless wednesdays are better for you all anyway)

ps its £5 a run but I'll try to persuade them to give us a deal for a 'bulk order'!!
