Buying Puppy - With Extras

I have noticed lately that breeders here in Australia seem to be competing with each other, offering in their ads more and more stuff that comes with the puppy. I am just waiting for somebody throwing in set of steak knives

I just wonder if buyers are impressed by all these "freebies"? It has been a long time since I advertised a litter, most of my pups are sold long before they are born; although my pups do go to their new homes with a little bag, they are just things to make the puppy settle into their new home easier, and make them more comfortable; they are not a ploy to entice people to buy them. Whatever extras people get, they only find out when I send them instructions on what they might need to buy in preparation of collecting their puppy. They get from me a toy and bunny rug (nicely smelled up by there mum and siblings) and few days supply of the kibble they are used to, and if I get a chance I make nice soft wide Whippet puppy collar for them, because they are not readily available to buy.

I wonder how do people who are buying pups feel about getting the whole package; dog, bed, bowls, collars, leashes etc.

it's 'nice' to have a few things with the pup, but wouldn't sway me in any shape or form, its so exciting to go shopping for a new pup and to pick out beds and collars etc which you like and even suit the decor lol

A well bred happily reared pup is way WAY more important!!!

I like to get a bit of blanket smelling of Mum etc

A few days food is a must .

Apart from that I would rather buy my own collars , leads . bowls etc

I'm more interested in the pup and the breeder than any extas .

My puppies always went with a diet sheet, a blanket they'd all been sleeping on, a toy, KC Reg and a pedigree. Plus telling the new owner all I could to help the puppy settle if it was a first time owner. I would let them know I was there to help and advise when ever they wanted to call and if, heaven forbid, they had to part with the pup, it came back to me what ever the situation.

I think gimmicks are just not on really.

Pups from here come with special care, love, devotion and a positive attitude. I think they're all the freebies they need

Tilly was a rescue but Gracie and Milo came with blanket/toy, puppy collar, coat, supply of their food and an advice sheet. Gracie was our first ped whippet and before and after Ruby gave birth we were given loads of advice, regular up dates and pictures of the litter and individual puppies. She was born on the 11th March and we collected her on the 9th May, by which time I felt as though I really knew our little girl. I wouldn't have thanked you for bowels, leads etc, I knew I wanted a puppy from this litter purely from the breeders set up and how they talked about their dogs - I just knew this was the one for us.
