Broadband

Since changing from Dial Up to Broadband, I've had nothing but trouble. I thought BB was supposed to be brilliant but to be honest I wish I'd never bothered

Nearly every time I use the laptop, usually in the evening to have a look on K9 & other doggy sites, after a few hours :- " the wireless signal just goes.

All of a sudden, in the middle of me looking at something, it just stops

A message will appear at the bottom of the screen , telling me there is no wireless connection.

It's so bloody annoying. The only way to get it going again is to go upstairs & switch off the router thingy (in the bedroom) for a couple of minutes. Then I switch it back on & after another few mins it all works again.

As Neil goes to bed a lot earlier than me, going up at 1 in the morning to faff around next to where he is sleeping is just not on so I usually just give up & go to bed myself.

Tiscali were really rubbish when it was set up a month ago, the customer service from them was just :rant: . My stress levels went up 10 fold so I really don't want to have to start ringing them again if I can avoid it.

Who else has had any problems?

I really feel for you J.T. as Tiscali have the worst reputation for BB.... I recently moved ISP to BT Total BB and have not had any probs at all.

It can sometimes depend on how far you live from the exchange..because we live in a very rural area and can only get broadband at a certain speed.. :angry: so its slower than other parts of the country too.

had the exact same problem myself, until i cahnged from the wireless router supplied in package by b.t. to a ZyXel one we bought ourselfs...much better and even speeded download speed

Been with Tiscali for years - dial up then broadband and they have been fab. Only company i have ever known to drop the price AND pass on that decrease to existing customer. Only had to phone them once and they were fab! Havent dared go wireless though - my little brain doesnt get it!

We've had our phone calls with Tiscali for a few years without any problems which is why I chose them for BB. It just seemed easier to keep it all with the same provider.

The last bill I got from them was way higher than it normally is so I phoned & queried it. After about 40 minutes the woman finally admitted I'd been charged £90 (w00t) (w00t) more than I should have been.

If it carries on cutting out, I'll try a different router, thanks for the tip )

Technology & me don't mix so when things go wrong I havn't a clue :blink:
