Right, its like this. I have got Fly as the dam of Scarback.

I have also got Fly as the dam of Gypsy, who in turn is the dam of York Boy.

Does anyone know if these two Fly's are the same bitch??

From somewhere or other I have got that at least one (or both if the same dog) is a pedigree. Anyone know what she was registered as. How about Fly's owner or colour or DOB ??

Questions, questions :p

Fly (Scarback's Mum) was owned by Johnny Taylor of Atherton, Gtr Manchester

Brindle 17/18lb DOB would have been prior 1960, not sure if it was kc reg, but was a ped.

My grandad is pretty sure that no other offspring from that particular fly went to anyone who bred or raced whippets.

It was probably a pretty popular name back then!

Hi Judy

Having read one of the early postings ref: Big Ben (breeding) i researched this some time ago. Once again the breeding in the WN was incorrect . The dame of Big Ben is spelt incorrect and should read CLAVELL CURLEW and this bitch was mated to Winged Foot Pied Wagtail . His dame was a bitch called Fair Maid of Dovecot and in fact it was this bitch, that was Laguna Bred.

Hope this helps

I spoke to Tony Delany about a year ago and i asked the same question about

Fly Tony,s reply was he never knew the breeding of the dame of Gypsy. However

Believed Fly to be breed from Unknown Pedigee Sire x Black Daz was the Dame

Gypsy= Sire: Flash (pedigree) details unknown x Dame: Fly

Fly= Sire: Unknown (ped) x Dame: Black Daz

If you find out any more i would love to know its a dead end for me .

Thanks Vicky 0 that help me distinguish between the two. Also just seen your PM.

Thanks Malcolm

Here's a bit mor for you :

Wingedfoot Pied Wagtail - Wingedfoot Corinthian x Fairmaid of Dovecot

Wingedfoot Corinthian - Ch. Peppard Pied Piper x Juliet Of Thickthorne

Fairmaid of Dovecot - Ch. Laguna Liege x Laguna Little Lil

Clavell Curlew - Ch. Evening Star Of Allways x Fourwinds Fly

What have you got on Bilko as I have conflicting info in my Pedigree & Non-Pedigree Data bases. Was he registered with the K.C. or have I got 2 different dogs.

In my Non ped data base I have him as being Swift Hawk x Mossfield Margaret

In my pedigree database I have him as Shino x Susan

Bilko: Swift hawk x Mossfield Margret

This needs more research to sure, however So far :

Swifthawk: Lone Eagle x Della

Lone Eagle : Red kite x lonesome

Della: Penperdandy x Silent Runner

Penperdandy: Pendergold x Tinribs Taffeta

Mossfield Margret: Prince of Lambeth x Cloverfield Flag Of Truce

Prince of Lambeth: Aces High x Dragonhill Sequin

Cloverfield Flag of Truce: Flag of Harwell x Cloverfield Firefly

Aces High: Ch scribbling Pilot x Scribbler

Dragonhill Sequin: Seagift Salix x Dragonhill Jay

Cloverfield Firefly: Dartie x Tinribs Trottie True

I am open to be corrected on the above as the Dame i have got for Lone Eagle

Which was once recorded as out of Lone Eagle rather than his dame needs futher research See what you come up with.

Thanks Malcolm.

I've got Lone Eagle as being Sammy x Saucy Sal and Saucy Sal as Blue Smoke x Black Elf (w00t) I got this from Pauline Wilson's book. Is this wrong then ? :(

I also have a Della as being Darley Fly x Golden Wyn. As Darley Fly is by Bilko it would create a circular pedigree so I guess it must be a different Della if Della is right. What do you have as the progeny of your Della ??

Also do you have any more on Golden Wyn ??

Judy, I am sure that Tony Cooper can tell you about Golden Wyn, i think all of his breeding goes back to that line, Phone 02392-389990 day time or 02392-642545 in the evening, if he cannot help, but i am sure he will, he will know of others who can. John M

Hi Judy

Thats whats great about reserching back breeding of the racing whippet,(non peds)

There are no exact records, unless you find KC reg dogs or NGRC reg Greyhounds

in you back breeding, then you have to rely on Whippet News or Spotlight info.

However i have a Five generation pedigree Dated 1972 from a mating between

Kaz Garas x Alpine Smoke With the breeding show as posted last night for Bilko.

Paulines book Whippets Rearing & Racing was published 1979 Which one is correct

i have yet to research. I have made Contact with many from the 50s and 60s

Mr G Broad from Stockport (Spot On).Mr Vic Collins (Baby Doll) Ian Crawshaw (Wendy Go) Mr k Coulter(Ho Boy) Sam Ernest (Wishy Was) Sam was 73yrs old

When i spoke to him in 1999. But still had great memories of his hay days.

All helped were they could, but the 50s was about organised meets.bookmakers present and dogs names changed for each meet some dogs ran under five different names in the same year. therefore both sauces might be correct.

Good luck

Judy

Golden Wyn: Blue Peter x Lady Fawn (Greyhound Breeding Unknown)

If only the folk Who breed First Crosses Researched ther bitchs Breeding.

It would make life so simple.

Hope this helps.

Thankd John & Malcolm for your help. I'll let you know if I find anythng more on Lone Eagle.
