Today i took Bradley to have a lesson at Blewbury...they were nice when i had phoned and booked :)

Anyway got there...no-one around...eventually someone came up to me to say i had to sign a form and Bradley will riding a pony called Squeak

A girl brought the pony and Bradley got on board....she started to walk around the school...she wasnt the intructor, she decided to do something and the girl were suppose to give the lesson but she found it hard to interact with a small child :(

So i took over and taught him myself and even got Bradley riding on his own, turning the pony and stopping the pony...he was really chuffed with himself as he was almost getting the rising trot

The girl kept saying sorry....Fiinished lesson put pony away...no one came to me to ask if everything went ok and to Bradley if he had enjoyed himself...which he had

Couldnt find anyone to pay for lesson...so i went

Im gobsmacked how this place is run  , i could of done a better job myself

All i want is to find a small pony for Bradley to use and im willing to pay...

Heres a pic of Bradley on Squeak which was a sweetheart...i would of taken her home if i could...the ones i ride arent really suitable for him, we would have to just keep on using vitzi the polo pony for now

...sorry not very good pic im afraid

Thats a lovely picture...

Disgraceful though there wasnt someone there in authority...to supervise your little lad.. money for old rope in some places isnt it.

sounds like they dont need the money either... :- "

Its probably best to check that they are BHSI Approved..

Jayne could you not borrow and small pony or take one part-loan and teach him yourself....I think you would make a much better job of it.

jayne, was the girls name beccy??

i used to go to that riding school when i was a wee lass

Agree on both counts, Jane!

Lovely little pony but seriously dubious management of a "riding school" (w00t)

Glad you got a result for Squeak and Bradley, tho'

aww! jane im sorry to hear that :( have you got anybody that would be willing to share with you as my friend still wants a good home for her pony and she is willing to have her back if its not suitable? just a thought

What a sweet photo!! Lovely looking pony, pleased he enjoyed it and a shame it was not better organised!! Health and safety nightmare!!! Don't know if I'm allowed to do this but check out www.pcuk.org and look at their Pony Club Centre scheme. there seem to be several in your area, although I'm aware Oxfordshire covers a vast amount of ground. :luck: :luck:

wow!

very badly run school!

There insurance company really would not cover them at all... esp if she has no qulifications.

I teach on a now and then basis at our local riding schools (i work freelance manily) and we have to have lesson plans, assess every new rider, give full explainations of teh lesson. Assess the suitablity of each horse & rider combination.

very very poor.

how much did they charge?

They would of charged me £15 for the 1/2 hour.....

Im not quite wheather to send them an e-mail and complain...they have a website on there says that every intructor is an AI which of course the girl wasnt and she said sometimes she had to teach the older kids

Maybe i should of said something there and then but my lad was looking forward riding the pony

heres the link..http://www.blewburycentre.co.uk/RidingHacking.html

Trouble is if unexperiance parents turn up with there young kids they wouldnt of known better

Now ive decided to look for a pony which i can use and share with a few of other parents with young kids and teach him myself

I bet you are not impressed  I take my kids to a local BHS approved riding centre, but they are not a huge amount better than the one you went to. Apparently they get checked every year and pull out all the stops to look good for inspection day. The rest of the year they are not too fussed. The instructor is really good, but the tack is a disgrace. There are often ponies with stirrup leathers flapping around their fetlocks  when they have tiny tots on them. It makes my blood boil  I hope you manage to find a better run yard.

Affieluver, if Jayne isn't interested in the pony I may be. I will send you a pm
