blue dogs

any thought's on blue dog's.  ive a little blue bitch pup,

people say they are either good or rubbish,i think this saying is rubbish as any dog can be good or bad.i must say in the short time ive been in the sport i havent seen a bad one.

A lot of people have sayings and old wifes tales regarding blue dogs, a lot of greyhound men won't go near them with a barge pole but there are also a lot of people out there who don't like parti coloureds, if you ask me i think it's a load of bxxxxcks, i personally think blue is a lovely colour, my first ever whippet was blue with white markings and my current whippet is white with blue markings.  As you say a blue whippet has just as much chance as any other dog as far as it's speed goes.  Blue's and Black's always look gorgeous when they're in good condition because the shine on their coat stands out unlike any other colour, but when they're not in good condition they also look the worst.

To put your mind at ease i will just remind you of some good blue dogs, some of the oldies you may find in your dogs pedigrees:

desperate dan and shania are also blue.

you get good and bad dogs in all colours. I personally did'nt like white or particolours, but now they have grown on me and frankly now i could'nt care what colour dog i have.

how is you're pup bred?

How big was the mother Neil, it doesn't look like she's going to be all that heavy considering she is from quite heavyweight breeding.

mother was 33lb ive also got two dog pups from same litter they weigh 36lb and34lb, black pup is 36lb tall and leggy, brindle pup 34lb a bit smaller but a very strong pup.

Blue dogs are black geniticaly but also carry a dilution gene pair which causes the black genes to produce the blue colour.The dilution gene is recesive and hence has to be represented on each of the chromosone pair.Recesive genes (but not the dilution gene) are responsible for some  faults and are an indication of close breeding - which can produce champs or chumps!

Our own blue dog was more chump than champ poor thing!
