Can dogs just see black and white? or more colours?

I have always wondered this is it true, or have I been told lies all my life? I’m very curious to see your replies. I will learn something new hopefully

They say horses don’t see colour either but mine used to go silly if we ever met something bright yellow , might not have been yellow to her as we know it but it did affect her ! ( I wasn’t too keen either )

I understood dogs could see blue and yellow and that theirvision wasn't too good up to around 30cm, but great after that. @JudyN's article seems to bear out the colour thing. No idea about cats.

They can definitely spot a discarded yellow tennis ball at half a mile away!
