For the last 12 years my older sister has been prescribed anti depresants for no reason !!
Intially she had a breakdown but 8 years ago she had a `funny turn ` where she completly lost her memory of the past few days and didnt know who anyone was , This fortunatly was short lived and she was told to continue the tablets and even `up the dose , , No reaccurrance for 5 years until she was due to go away on holiday ( the one before happened just before holiday and house move , which is always stressful) This time she saw a doctor who sent her for brain scans and MRI . and she saw a top man who asked her why she was on anti depressants . was she depressed ?? She said No and he couldn`t understand why she was on these habit forming tablets at all !! I`m so angry
Her results have come back and she has Transian Global amnesia ! No cure and no medication and the specialist said the worse thing they could have given her was anti - depressants !
Of course we are all delighted she dosnt have anything major wrong , although it is a worry as her memeory loss could happened again at any time she is stressed ( apparentley men can experiance it when love making !! Something to do with blood pressure
But now she has to wean herself off those blo**y tablets . Im furious at the 2 doctors who thought they would be saving money by not sending Jose for a scan 12 years ago, or couldnt be bothered to do a proper job , but would love to hug the GP who did , Unfortunatly she has now gone back to working in a hospital. Jose and her husband are now going to change the practice they go to , who can blame them
