amazing stuff:
Kisspeptin: Mouse study shows how the brain controls sex

a single molecule, the hormone kisspeptin, is prompted into action by pheromones released by the male mouse.
Those M pheromones also stimulate a cluster of neurons in the F's hypothalamus. Kisspeptin stimulates another, separate neural cluster, which in its turn prompts attraction in the F for this handsome M specimen... & then, running in parallel, both of those neural clusters prompt sexual behavior in the F.

Kisspeptin is a very potent hormone - without it, the entire chain of behaviors collapses.
