As mentioned elsewhere, OH has played in a few pub bands, and his latest ensemble would now like a name. I know we have a few musos here, so wondered if anyone could suggest something? OH has rejected my suggestion of The Gut Spasms - can't think why:D You get one point per suggestion, two points if it's a half-decent name, and three points if it makes me laugh. The winner gets... umm... a free ticket for their first gig, but don't hold your breath...

They play rock/pop/rock & roll covers, e.g. Queen. Foo Fighters, Sex Pistols, Stones, though OH wants to nudge them towards the more edgy stuff - more Foo Fighters, maybe Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age... I quite like the name Alien Concept but he said that's too prog.

Apart from the backing singer who is in her 20s, they're all later middle age, so 'Young Blood', 'Lock Up Your Daughters' and similar aren't going to work...

AAAHHHH, I am supposed to be doing my books( 4 months worth to my shame) and now you've gone and distracted me!! I'll have a muse anyway as I work..:D

Nah, Muse is no good, it's been taken ;) I wonder if OH's drumming is up to Muse? He found the bass playing rather challenging!

Farmer Giles and the Gilly Pods
Vik Virus and the Prevaricators...

I make that 6 points, Flobo!:D

You've just ruined my Saturday night, this as got in to my brain now.

If you want to waste even more time, there's an awesome band name generator here: Band Name Generator And when you've tried that, you must try the lyric generator. Select a load of words to include, and your style of music - I chose metal, though it could be interesting to see what it did with the same words in Justin Bieber style, and it came up with this....

Mistress of Drumming

Faster than a lurcher
Terrifying lion
Enraged and like a percher
She's half woman and half bryan

Mistress of drumming I'm pulling your lead
Twisting your rope and smashing your glass
Blinded by me, you can't see the swede
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you contrast
Mistress
Mistress
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you contrast
Mistress
Mistress

Twenty is the number of the lion.

A sexy witch nestled somewhere in time,
A hot dungeon - no warnings, no signs
Judgment day and the a grey bed arrives
Eventually, they all commit crimes

The glass went SMACK, there was no use turning back
'Cause I just had to see, was a lion watching me?
In the mist the rope twists
Was all this swell, or just some kind of hell?

Twenty is the number of the lion.

Is it the end, my friend?
Mistress you're going 'round the bend
Half woman and half bryan
No, no, please, no
Twenty ... twenty

That is brilliant!:D so gonna try that..

Band name, 'They Might be Hardcore Ferrets' or 'The Banging Fingers'..
Master of Jumping
By kick
A Metal Anthem

Faster than a bike
Terrifying spider
Enraged and like a spike
He's half man and half cooprider

Master of jumping I'm pulling your lead
Twisting your arm and smashing your ice
Blinded by me, you can't see the creed
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you cry
Master

9 is the number of the spider.

A rough demon nestled somewhere in time
A ready gimp - no warnings, no signs
Judgment day and the a dirty man arrives
Eventually, they all commit crimes

The ice went SMACK, there was no use turning back
'Cause I just had to see, was a spider watching me?
In the mist the arm twists
Was all this swell, or just some kind of hell?

9 is the number of the spider.

9 ... 9

Sorry, I went a bit random, have had a beer!!:D

They're very much variations on a theme, aren't they?:D

Here are some suggestions (funny and serious)

2 weeks from retirement
Colostomy Explosion
Run Amok
Angel's Tears
Hammer and Sickle
Rage Against The Retirement Home

Thanks for those, AGonline, they made me laugh!!

Ah, good point! It's so long since they've been able to get together and practise, and I've never seen them play, so I'd forgotten the line-up!

Live music will probably be one of the last to return from lockdown too I guess. Such a shame, though have they come across Jamulus? It's great for collaborating/playing over the internet apparently.

I'll leave you alone now.

Ooh, thank you! I've asked Mr R, and he's having a look at it now - he's definitely interested!
