Pete our very well behaved whippet has always ripped apart any soft toys (from high street petstores) with ease and apparent pleasure. He seems to get great pleasure in ripping out the inside which we are sure is entirely natural behaviour but beginning to be be expensive!!

Are there any soft toys out there that might withstand his assault or even last a bit longer than the usual 3 or 3 days?

I had a lot of TY beanies espeically for dogs, after 2months they are all still in tact. They had others for christmas which are :( now binned

I've got some brilliant ones that have lasted since we got our two eight month old pups in October, still intact. Hang on, let me go and find one......

Right, the brand is Plush Puppies and I got them from here on ebay:

The squeaky dinosaur who is filled with squeaky eggs - the dogs full the eggs out of its tummy rather than the stuffing. The eggs are really well made so it's like getting 4 toys in one.

We also bought this one but ours says The Vet!

I've also bought a toy from the same company called Hide a Squirrel which is the same idea - there are three squeaky squirrels in a log and the dogs pull them out. This toy is still in perfect shape too.

I brought a toy cow,and its still in one piece, all they done is chewed its tail and ears,i got it from my local Mole Avon farmers stores :D

Muffin's the one who destroys soft toys in our house and I think if they're determined to pull all the stuffing out then there's not much that's going to stop them! (w00t) I haven't managed to find a soft toy that is Muffin proof but that dinosaur and eggs looks rather good. The Kong Wubba is a really strong toy and I like the Pet Stages toys - they're not soft but do seem to provide a lot of interest and last longer than some of the other toys we have.

You could always get soft toys from a charity shop - as they're not very expensive it won't matter too much if they're destroyed. Muffin gets so much pleasure out of searching out the squeaker that it seems a shame to deny him it!!

The Dr Noys Toys are absolutely fantastic http://www.companyofanimals.co.uk/drnoys-plush-toys.php

They come in different sizes so make sure you order the right size for your dog. They are plush, but with very little stuffing. The squeakers are hidden in velcro pockets and they come wiht replacement squeakers. I have some that are goign on 4 years old now and still in one piece!

Try Mothercare. I bought a little pink rabbit in there and it's still as new.

All the toys I've bought from dogshops have had rubbish seams apart from the Dr Noy - they're brilliant and come with a spare squeaky.

MUST you put links on like this toooooooooo irresistable...Bluebell now has EVEN more toys on the way ... far to expensive looking at this forum

Just before Daisy arrived I bought a job lot of second hand soft toys from ebay. Got loads and it worked out at 50p each. Every so often I pull a couple of new ones out of the stack and let them have them. They go crazy! Other than that, for some reason some toys will stay intact for aaaaaaaaaages and some die almost immediately. Claire and Albie are my diehard destuffers but they'll all do it given half a chance. That's why I bought a cheap lot so I wouldn't care if they killed them! :D If they're determined to kill a toy, they're going to!

Thanks for putting this question up.

We were starting to think that Austin wouldn't be able to have any more stuffed toys as he plays with them so much that eventually the seams give way and he can get the stuffing out.

It's not that he chews them a lot, its the shaking!

Off to look at the links!
