while on a camping trip , this week down in weston super mare , i came upon a dissused building site that was literally full of jet black rabbits !

..ive never seen any blacks ones before and wondered if anyone else had ?

i would have loved for my dogs to have a go at them but it was really to dangerous

with all the rubble about .

i've seen several up near us (Todmorden Lancs) the farmer recons the escapees that have bred with the wild ones.

There was a few round near us about 10 years ago, in fact our old mongrel caught one. Not seen one for ages though!

:D Dessie and I see a whole bunch of baby ones on our last trip in scotland..... thought we were seeing things LOL :D

We used to have mainly white ones with black patches around here but they've all gone now. Easy pickings for the buzzards methinks. :- "

We do have almost black foxes here. Basically our foxes have gone darker over the years breeding blacker and blacker. They are the most beautiful foxes that I've seen. Urban ones are minging in comparison.

Wow black foxes sound really stunning. We only have red ones in Oz that I know of.

But we do have black dingoes.

There was a big back male dingo around the area we lived years back and when I researched it I found out that they were called Alpine Dingoes. But sure looked like it was crossed with a black GSD to me. Very imposing dog!!!

Loads near us, in fact the dogs have run one this morning. They`re quite common, even seen then up on the Dales in some really remote spots . They all taste the same though!! :D

Yep we have loads of black rabbits around Herts and black Squirrels - now they are pretty :D

Talking of odd coloured thing my grandads mate on a pigeon shoot shot a white wood pigeon last week, he's currently got it in his freezer to be stuffed and there also used to be a white starling knocking about too.

Beejay -thank goodness you said that I thought I had gone mad!

I saw one months ago - at first I thought it was a little collie , but i realised it was fox, the dogs certainly knew what it was and took off after it. My OH thought I was drunk/mad/both

Haven't seen any black rabbits here but did see them at Seaton Sluice when we lived in Newcastle.

never seen black ones, but we got ginger ones were we walk our whippys

We've got quite a lot of black & ginger rabbits around us(lincs) but the most unusual sight is the few white pheasants. When there's a shoot going on no-one is allowed to shoot them!

No black bunnies, unless you count the ones seem at bunny shows!!! Seen (wild) black squirrels on my travels as well! Thought I was seeing things. It was sitting on the back of a park bench eating it's breakfast.

i was in the ilse of wight in march & saw loads of white ones in the feilds as we were up early

Many years ago, saw a Wildlife programme about Black Versions of our native species.A film crew went out and filmed black squirrels, rabbits, foxes,Starlings etc.

We do have black rabbits in Gloucestershire, not far from here, and less than a mile away from where Glos Whippy racing occurs.

On our local common,we have what I call Albino badger's,although they are actually red and white. The reason I called them albino was because of their red eyes, they are really stunning as well.
