yes i think you may be right as my mum had her's removed 9yrs ago.you waited a year to have the op i cant flaming cope with a year of thisJune Jonigk said:Hi there! I know how you are feeling. I had my gall bladder removed in 1989. But don't worry, it's a much easier op now they do keyhole surgery. I can eat anything now (and normally do!). They say the problem is hereditary, and as my mother and brother have had theirs removed, I'm sure they are right. The pain is excruciating I know. I could control it if I didn't eat fatty foods. The trouble was, I'd eat a packet of crisps and all would be ok, so then I'd push it and eat something else - it always seemed that 5 hours after eating the offending item, I would be really ill. I waited a year for my op, and as soon as I got home I had a curry! My brother seems to eat all he wants now too - so you can look forward to being pain free, and enjoying your food again.
Good luck :luck: and hope you don't have to wait too long.
My husband had gallstones and kept the pain at bay by following a really strict low fat diet. I used to have to read all the labels on his food to make sure it wasn't too fatty. It did work for him though. He had his gall bladder out a couple of years ago and can now eat anything without any trouble, although anything extra fatty might cause a bit of discomfort, but no terrible pain. Hope you can get it sorted soon - apparently it's one of the most painful things you can suffer from, including childbirth! Good luck! :luck:nicky12 said:as the title says anybody suffer with gallstones or had ther gall bladder removed ..and what sort off diet was u able to eat after the removal of it iv been told by my doctor that i may have gallstones the pain is unbearable and iv now been waiting for 2months now for a scan to see were they are and how big they are .so any info what you had to change diet wiese ext would be gratfully recieved .iv already been told to avoid fatty food

Well ive just read all your posts, and my heart goes out to young Nicky and tinks, my lady had tests for stomach pains a while back, couldnt find nowt wrong, cameras and tubes up every dam orriffice poor soul, anyways she ended up having her gall bladder removed, keyhole, she isnt much better today, but dont let that dismay you two ladies, im sure everything will be ok for you :luck:julieleigh said:I had my gall bladder removed 17 years ago ~ it was meant to keyhole surgery but ended up open surgery, had to stay in hospital for a week & minimal work on my return home which was difficult as my son was only 10 months old at the time... I was told fatty foods & dairy products are the cause. My brother is due to go in for keyhole surgery in a couple of weeks time for gall stones, they have told him he'll be in for just for 1 night & should be able to return to work in about a week...
The pain is unbearable, you have my sympathy.. :huggles:
Hope you get the problem sorted quickly...
Very best :luck:
June Jonigk said:Hi all you fellow gallbladdery people - don't be feeling guilty now - it isn't fat that causes the stones. Like Lesley says, eating fat causes the pain because it makes the gallbladder pump the bile faster to digest the fat. So I reckon small quantities often is the answer, and avoid as much fat as possible. Even a large meal with not so much fat will require extra bile to digest it. I too was overweight, but only 29 years old. My brother was only 23, and not overweight at all.
I don't know about the rest of you who have had a cholecystectomy to give it it's posh name, but I find now that if I don't eat little amounts often, I get a burning sensation in my stomach. I put it down to the fact that when you don't have a gallbladder, there is a continuous stream of bile going straight into the stomach from the liver, as you now don't have a pouch to store it in, and if there's no food for it to work on, I presume it eats away at the stomach lining.
I know infrequent eating is sometimes given as the cause of stomach ulcers, and can be caused by the bile not having anything to digest, and so aggrevating the stomach lining.
Anyway, I think it's a good excuse, and now I don't eat big meals, I just graze all day!!
