Aggressive Boxer

[SIZE=14pt] Since coming back off holiday where i had to put the dogs into boarding kennels the Lilly the Boxer has got really jealous and attacked the whippets. On the first occassion Badger had to go to the vets as he just swelled up and had to anti biotics and anti inflams etc and the second time Towy had to have 4 stitches in her neck. [/SIZE]

These have all lived together happily since we had Lilly as a pup 3 years ago and she is still very loving.

She is obvioulsy been affected by the holiday, it isnt the first time they have been in kennels together so dont know what has happened

Any suggestions please as if it happens again i will have to put her down as i cant trust her at the moment

you need to go with you gut feeling, if you have really lost confidence in her temprement then only you can decide what to do next :unsure: :unsure:

i know some one that was in the same situation, the bull dog cross attacked 1 of the whippets and in the end the only thing was to have him pts after having him from a puppy it was a terrible choice to make, but the damage done to the whippy was near death

after the bull cross was removed, a noticeable difference in the whippys was unreal, it seemed they had lived in fear of this dog for a while.

my friend would not of been happy to rehome him, incase he turned on a person, or child :unsure:

There is really only one answer. PTS because you will always have to be on your guard incase she kicks off again and that attack might be the fatal one.

This is from experience with two whippets of mine, father and son. They lived together quite happily until the younger dog was five, then we had battles and I was always on edge with them.

The final attack was totally unprovoked and the older dog ended up badly mauled with a broken upper jaw. I decided there and then that enough was enough and had the young dog PTS, he was very unpredictable with other dogs too.

My remaining whippets started playing again and lost the haunted look they had. So, not and easy thing to do, but sometimes you have to think of the dogs, not yourself.

I had this a long time ago with a male boxer who was my total baby, but I also had a male tibetan spaniel and one day they fought (having lived together in perfect harmony for a long time)

The Boxer broke the Tibetans pelvis, I re-homed the boxer to live on his own

The Boxer lived happily for the rest of his days with a middle aged couple who adored him - he never had another agressive incident either before or after

Sorry this has happened. Have you spoken to Boxer rescue? They have loads of experience and contacts and may have someone who could foster the boxer for a while to see how she is away from the Whippets. This would give you a breathing space and may also result in a new being found for Lilly who would be able to have her on her own. Thinking of you, please let us know the outcome whatever you decide.
