I have had my lurcher 9 months now , he is 3, he was from a rescue and I have worked hard with him to get him fit and healthy and to get a basic set of commands. His recall is now excellent and he will fetch and leave . I would like to do a bit more with next year and have been googling about the sorts of things that are available , he is quick and agile and loves to play with his ball , any suggestions about what to do next ? He is a lively boy and would like him to enjoy some of the available sporting events. Any advice much appreciated.

Here he is

He is a lovely chap, why not just go to some events and see how he acts, most clubs and organisers will let you have a solo trial to see if he will chase good luck with him

lurcher racing get the country mans weekly they have all the date on there and were they are the racing season will be starting soonish keep any eye on here to as they do get posted about befor hand.

all lurcher/showing events the people are helpfull but let them know your new to this and keep badgering as it is a busy time once racing starts you will love it but be propared there is a lot of standing around not knowing whats going on at times.

good luck

What about having a go at agility? That involves more than just speed, so if racing isn't his thing, agility might be worth a try? It is good fun and a challenge for the handler as well as the dog. You get a real sense of acheivement as you train and see the progress.
