From the start :)

I currently have two female dogs, peaches who is a collie & roxy who is a small rottweiler cross, someone came up to me and here goes the conversation:

'jen do you want a boxer because im going to have to shoot it if i cant find a home for it'

me: ' :0!!! why whats happened?'

'my mate was going to dump it so i said id have it and take care of it all, so i was going to use him as a guard dog but he's too tame'

so after this i said you know whats wrong with him and why etc apparently he is good with other dogs and everything etc, so i said i would meet this boxer with our now and just see how they get along.

so my dilema really is what problems can you expect to have with a dog that seems to have been up-rooted from its home and moving about so much?

thanks! Jen x j and r.jpg

Hi Jen,

I used to have a rotti named Tank (he was huge hence the name :)) and when i introduced another dog into our home because she was a bitch they were best of friends.

We had both of them from rescue shelters and had to introduce them over a period of time.

Now just taking this boxer not knowing it can go one way or the other.

They will get on well and you will have nothing to worry about or both your rotti and collie may not take too kindly to him and then you would have to give him up anyway.

if this horrible man is going to shoot this boxer, my advice is to get his details and call the RSPCA or a local animal shelter. They will take him in and make sure he finds a wonderful home. And if you have evidence that he will shoot the dog or has done with any others before then i would personally call the police and have him arrested for animal cruelty!

If he is a big softie no doubt he is a beautiful one too he will find a home in no time.

My grandad used to own a boxer and they are fabulous dogs!

Sorry i cant be more help but the latter i feel is going to be the best option. At least you now that despite you not being able to take the boxer on you have done the right thing by it.

Good luck!

thanks sophie!

he only said he would have to shoot it if he couldn't think of anything eles to do, just introduced the boxer to our roxy and the boxer didnt seem to impressed they had a good sniff then started barking so ive suggest to the fella what you sayed and we've agreed to go on a daily walk together with all the dogs to get them use to each other like you mentioned and see how it goes

the boxer had been left in a shed before this guy took him, with a food bowl on timer thing whilst the previous owner was away every other week, very very skinny and the dog had to do his waste in the shed :(

hope they get along better he's a proper little sweety pie :)

You maybe want to check if this an arrestable offence before advising anyone?
