A little video riding a friend horse 'Donnella' an ex polo/race horse and only been in work for 3 weeks

what to you think all you experiance riders out there

 
I think he's going very well :thumbsup: you would never guess he has had such little work. Handsome horse too.

well not quite sure what we'll do with her yet

Just gotta take it really slow with her as she does get fizzy but shes a quick learner

she can be fussy in the mouth as in the past she ha been pulled a round so taking it really slow and soft with her at the moment...we'll start with some pole work soon ...she has a great jump in her but she gets very excited though.....shes a typical TB

I called Donnatella a he and she's a she (w00t)

And a chestnut mare at that :blink: - not surprised she can fizz!!! :D

thats ok

i prefer to ride the lighter type of horses as long i feel safe on them of course

yes i think shes going very nice for you and 3 weeks wow ,when she gets to working on the bit and muscle up she will be a nice young lady as shes only 16 ,our one jumper has nearly 12 years on her being 28 and still flying!! if you need any bit help the bit bank are great you can pay £5.00 and hire bits and send them back in a month or buy them its great when your doing new things and needing to change bits , we change every few shows as they get strong good luck with her
 
she seems very nice, :wub: and i thought the rider seems a nice quiet rider too, Not fussing with her at all. Personally i would like to see her moving out abit more though, not hurried but abit more drive from behind , and relaxing into herself ( if that makes sense to you) she looks to have abit of tension through the poll. Going nice though espesh as only been in work 3 weeks! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
:oops: sorry I called her a him too

nice though as you always have the option of breeding a foal ,we had a TB filly from Henry Cecil's yard she was due for the breeze up sales reared up going into a horse box and hurt her hip , she came sound and we had a lovely filly foal from her to a dales stallion .

I agree, lovely quiet riding :thumbsup: What bit are you riding her in (looked like a snaffle but couldn't really see). I've found that sometimes a horse who is fussy with it's mouth does better with a softer bit, ie a straight bar happy mouth. They seem to accept the bit easier and are more willing to move into the bridle. I would also start introducing some lateral work to make her concentrate rather than get fizzy and perhaps do lots of transitions too and serpentines. Do you own a persoa training aid? Lunging with this a few times a week will do wonders for her top line.

she had twin foals 3 years ago a filly and a colt ...the colt died

she has very breeding pedigree...cant remember of my head

yeah shes just in a snaffle and a drop.....she was wearing a gag,drop,standing martingale for polo so shes been pulled about, which is a shame,but got very excitable with the polo which has been doing for a quite abit

yes i have lunge her which i enjoy doing only with side reins i try dont to use anything else

also i do lots of transistions etc but she gets quite sore and tired as shes using different muscles what shes been used to....its early days yet so im sure she'll improve in time

Its really good when you get video riding yourselve as i can see what i can improve on etc
