A Walk In Deep Purple

It's that time of year...the moorland is a mass of purple heather.

Here are a few photos from our walk...they took on a purple theme :- "

Fred resting at the top. He chose to lie on my fleece jacket rather than lie in the scratchy heather. :lol:

Those views are lovely. Used to go into the Peaks as a kid, have vague memories of ?Blue Johns Cavern? what an experience that was.

Looks like the dogs enjoyed it.

The caverns (Blue John is one of them) are in Castleton..only 20 mins drive from us...very popular...the caverns themselves are well worth a visit.

I always see the heather as a consolation prize for the summer coming to an end slowly. I always forget when it comes into flower..and it's always such a lovely surprise in August.

Stan wasn't too impressed with the heather...here he is keeping cool whenever he found a beck (always make sure we can find him shade or water if he gets a bit warm...bless him)

Im not too far from you.

I live in Alton near Alton towers. Im a fireman in derbyshire, used to be up in the peaks at Buxton but the 11months of winter made me transfer to Derby.

Brrrrrrr its cold up there!
