We stayed with my in-laws in Paignton for a few days last week and one afternoon took the steam train to Kingswear, then the ferry across to Dartmouth. It was such a beautiful day and we all had a lovely time.

Richard's nephew, who was also staying, enjoying the view from the train

Not sure if Muffin's enjoying it or not!

Jonah on the ferry from Kingswear to Dartmouth - both him and Muffin had such a fuss made of them by other passengers. We also met 2 couples who had greyhounds at home, so they were interested in them both too.

Lovely, Gillian :D

I don't get down to Dartmouth much but there are some lovely restaurants there, I hear!!

It looks as though you had a nice time and good weather to boot!!

The black and white picture is very atmospheric (but I do like b+w photography anyway  )

Richard's father was a vicar in the South Hams and I used to love going to Dartmouth - we always said we'd like to live there. Changed my mind by now though - that part of Devon is always so busy!

Fabulous pics Gillian

So good to see you are able to take your Whippets on Public Transport. No chance here, they want to ban dogs from towns altogether.

That's really awful. Is that really likely to happen? Can't see how a ban like that could really be put into practice.

I know what you mean!!!!!!

I avoid all the coastal towns like the plague during the summer (w00t)

Too many grockles (tourists in Devon lingo  )

Looks like you enjoyed your trip Gillian Glad the weather improved for you all

Lovely pics bt the way !!

Did he need that plane surgically removed

Love the seagulls :) and all the rest :D

I like the photos of your nephew looking out of the train window (and with the plane stuck up his nose  ). Some lovely coastal views.

Very very slowly. They probably wont be totally banned in town in my life time but little by little local councils are putting more and more restrictions in place.

A friend who works at our City Council often talks about the anti-dog culture that is building within local government.

They are likely to bring in Dog Free Estates at first when drawing up new subdivisions. If this happens pressure will then be put on councils to include older areas.

"Queensland - Sunny One Day, Perfect The Next". But we are over regulated IMO.

OK I'm getting down from my soapbox now
