Right, here goes!

After the torrential rain on Saturday we were chuffed to wake up to glorious sunshine on Sunday, racers started arriving around 10.30am & weigh in started at 10.45 - thanks to Michelle for doing that. No pre-entry

Scales went down bang on 12 o'clock & programmes we're finished for 12.45 with racing starting at 1pm. 65 dogs on the programme, quite a lot of Gin Pit dogs missing but still a good entry for a North West open.

Despite what people say about the 1/2 yd handicap no-one could say that the races weren't close - no heavyweights going in after the lightweights with people closing their eye's scared of what might clash.

All times back to scratch

35lb Bitches

Show Three - 1st 8.34

Pedigree Racing

This probably dragged the racing out a bit but we think as the pedigree racers turn up & support us week in - week out it's only fair they should be able to run at our open and with it being all off time, the finishes we're excellent!

Now just a few thanks - here's my Gwyneth Paltrow speach lol

My hat goes off to the organisations who run opens on a regular basis, i was kind of glad when it was all over having been organising things for weeks leading up the the event, there we're a million and one things to remember and get done.

BIG thanks to everyone who attended, if anyone did complain it was behind our backs, the only thing we struggle with is sorting the consolation & the presentation but it's a rush job from finishing racing to having everything set up ready. Our lure lad was brilliant all weekend - well done to Tom, Also well done to Graham (on lure) and Keith (on traps) no re-runs all day thanks to them. Thankyou to the sponsors, without them open's like this can't go ahead - no one could complain about what they won and thanks to Wendy for the Jackets (which nearly were'nt given out  ).

Hopefully the weather next year will be much better friday & saturday so that we'll get a few more campers.

**CAN WEIGHT CLASS WINNERS PM ME THEIR ADDRESS AS I HAVE CERTIFICATES FOR YOU**

Again i think George would have been proud!

:)

a brilliant well run open, with trophies for all class winners, which may i say are good enough for champion title trophies. i only had a solo with zak, (you can only run with what turns up) but enjoyed the day and also £10 price money,a trophy and certificate, a lovely day, will be back next year.

We would recomend this open to everyone. Our kid's had a great time Gary even went on the horse and loved it. They were on the roundabout for ages also. The burger van was very good. Track was also good and we thought the terrier racing was very funny :D .

Thank's to the man who pulled us out when we got stuck on the Saturday morning and to Tony ( Wendy's Man ) for staying till we left on the Monday incase we got stuck again

The weekend we had was very good but will take our wellie's next year just incase. Everyone was so friendly.

Susan & John

PS Thank's for the pint's, pop and crisp's Vicky & Michelle

We had a lovly time thanks vicky and everyone else for there hard work Tony and me only got the smalest glimps of what was involved.

Were very pround of lacey the best we were hoping for was for her not to finish to fare behined the last dog and at best may be in forth place. We saw some beatifull dogs and and some fantastic races and some realy nice peopel. Opens are exciting arnt they :D Carnt wait for the pics Think i avoided the camra all day though :D

wendy

Well Done avoiding the camera Wendy - Lacey did run well I bet you are proud of her ... I think these days it's the camera that avoids me :D

I just typed a post ... pressed Add Reply and it just wiped the whole post  What on Earth happened ?

Try again ... (if I can remember what I put)

We had a brilliant day out (despite wet feet when we got home). We were more than pleased with the performance of Kerri saying that she's been off 5 weeks after her op and she's only been able to go out the house on her lead past 2 (same goes for Blaze). Kerri's 1st run wasn't all that good but it was all we were expecting, for her to come out and run 3yds faster in her next race was astounding WELL DONE KERRI  . Blaze ran abismally ... enough said about her.

It was nice to see Refuse to Bend is back up to steam and on the straight tracks after her toe problems at the end of May. Also was good to see Susan and John Weir's youngster Guess When have company to race with allowing him to show everyone else how well he is maturing. Legs 'n' Lips is just recovering from another Virus so Alan told me, she did well considering and if that was a taste of her on the road to recovery then watch out when she is 100%. Red Ranger was a definate crowd pleaser I think he impressed everyone (I know a few were leaning his way for the dog supreme).

Hi !!! To all the people I met from K9 - I probably won't remember meeting most of you so you'll have to remind me -_- lol

Really enjoyed the weekend, especially the racing. :D Nice to put names to faces of some of the K9ers. Pleased Barney did well in the ped racing. Barry says well done Fleesh and tell your mum well done as well as he knows she doesn't come on much and it was nice to meet you! :luck:

Vicky, really enjoyed the late late late late late night drinking session  next time need a little bit more than 3 hours sleep

Hope to meet everyone again next year.

Carol

Mum is at work at the minute Carole but I'll make sure to say Hi and all that tomorrow morning. Barney and Kerri seemed to become good friends (put it this way, she didn't try and bite his head off :D ).

Blaze says to tell you all sorry she missed the drinking session but could you save her a can of bitter next time as that is her favourite

Here are some of the picture I took yesterday at A & T. like last year it was excellent, great prizes for all classes, coats for supreemes, track was great going no injuries, apart from conors lass whos dew claws caused problems again. as usuall I missed my own dog, cant look through the lens at the same time he runs.

It shows when you only put one open on a year you are fresh, keen, spend the time getting sponsers. This results in everyone leaving happy, how many times

can we say that. Well done to all the members of A&T that helped put on your second open, you desrve full credit. Also well done to all the winners even colorado

who just pipped me on the line, this came two weeks early as Tigger is just getting back after the dreded cough.

One last thing looking at the dog and bitch finals it is clear that yd per lb is out of touch with the modern racing dog, light weights are running much faster than in the past, resulting in very unfair racing. The biggest handicap on straights should be 2ft per ld, but then again I must be mad as over 75% of racers agree, but will we change I doubt it. I said in my tip for the scotish Derby look out for Truebelle

well after the bitch final, im sure she wont be far away, only inches away from winning.

I had to take a pic of Debs latest pup out of the Blaster, he looked a right bundel of trouble.

First of all I would like to start with a big thank you to the bloke who towed my caravan onto the field when it got stuck (this is not the first time this has happened to me) and then to Tony and Wendy for making sure I would get out this morning by staying behind with their 4*4 but thanks to the sunshine yesterday my poor front wheel drive done the job and a big thanks to the bloke who was pulling the traps for asking the bloke to get me on the track when I got stuck and for making sure that I would get out this morning but as you would have seen I got out okay. As for the event I enjoyed it I wish that the weather was a bit more kind to the people on the Saturday but I ventured out to watch the Lurcher and Terrior Racing and although it was new to me I enjoyed watching it. A fast food van on the field all weekend made sure that we did not go hungry and with a show ride along with horse rides on the Saturday it went down well with the kids. On to the racing a well run event and racing started just over an hour after the scales went down and a break to make a new programme for the consolations and the finals gave the dogs a good break before they starting racing again. No need to go into the results as they have already been posted but a big thanks again for the hospitatly and the refreshmints  .
