Please could we have a vote to see if this photo size restriction can be lifted or at least relaxed a little. Almost every photo I see now is reduced in size, leading to poor quality, pixellated photos. Personally, after loads of effort expended trying to get sharp, good quality photos, it's really disheartening to see. I'm sure other must feel the same? I've gone to loads of effort over the years to load all my photos to Photobucket to resize them anyway, and now what's the point? Practically every photo I see has been reduced, quite often by just 5%.

How does everyone else feel?

P.S. I sort of understand the reasons for it. Photos over a certain size break the page margins apparently. However, it never seemed to matter before, why should it now (as long as the photos aren't rediculously large!)? Sorry to give Admin a hard time, but posting photos are such a fundamental part of this forum.

I hope I've set this poll up correctly. It's the first one I've done

im on the fence as i havnt noticed it happening to mine so it really hasnt made any difference :b

I'm having real problems getting my photos small enough to be allowed on here. i've always taken pics at a smallish size anyway to save me having to resize them but now even they are too big.

Technical stuff hurts my head so until I get my small brain around resizing I'll just forget about trying to put photos on :(

I for one would like to see it the old way....the pictures are not as good in my opinionl...

its clear so far by the poll...what people think..

poor Nigel and Judy :( they work so hard on K9, if it means we have to click on a picture to enlarge it, thats not the end of the world ;) ive not found it a problem myself.

Also if you upload your picture via photobucket it resizes them for you...it's really easy, even i can use it (w00t)

No one appreciates what Nigel & Judy do more than me..honestly. Look how long I've been a member of K9. But this change really hurts.

Yes...Photobucket resizes the photos, which is why so many of us use it. But it has become a pointless exercise now, as we resize on photobucket and K9 re-sizes them again  The end result is awful. :(

mine dont get resized when i post from photobucket

if you upload them to photobucket then size them to large they upload on here fine, thats what i have always done

The size is ok but it diffently spoils the quality of the photo's :(

Have to agree Nicola....why resize them....just to resize again on here...

Ive noticed a real difference in the quality of the photos in the end result.

I always upload mine to Photobucket, with the setting on large, i.e. the photos get reduced down to 640 x 480. I don't think that K9 is accepting this size anymore either. Here's a photo I've already downloaded to Photobucket to resize to 'large':

It's as I thought, K9 won't even let us post a photo using the standard size that Photobucket reduces our photos to. This isn't even a particularly large size, but is the optimum size that i like to see on a chat board. A lot of people use the 800x 600 (15" screen) resizing choice on Photobucket.

Could we at least be able to post our photos at the standard size of 640 x 480, without having them reduced by 5% each time? :sweating: Why advocate using Photobucket and then not accept the sizes photos are reduced to on there?

I've pm'd Nigel the following message (OK I've not given the poll very long to run, but I never was very patient :b ):

Hi Nigel,

Could I draw your attention to the topic I've provided a link to below please, and ask you to reconsider increasing the allowance of photo dimensions? Would it be possible to allow photos up to 800 x 600 (15" screen), or at the very least 640 x 480 (large). These are the size selections as set by Photobucket. By not allowing these sizes, but at the same time encouraging us to use Photobucket to download photos from, you're giving conflicting advice to a certain extent. I understand that you don't want to break page margins, but it never seemed to be a major problem before. Could we reach a compromise?

Many thanks,

Nicola

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome :luck:

look forward to the outcome... I liked that size too...always looked good and as you say not particularly too big

for the forum.

i have to appologise nicola, mines must get resized to then, it must be that i just have never noticed it before  sorry :b

Oh pooh, I vote but then pressed null vote by accident instead of vote! It really doesn't bother me because I assume it has something to do with the amount of space large pictures take up, or something like that :p The quality of the photo doesn't really bother me - I'm not marking them out of ten  I just enjoy looking at them :D

I've taken off any resizing of external images. However, images uploaded to K9 wider than 650px will still be 'thumbnailed' to 650px wide

Thank you Nigel  That means we can now post pictures 640 x 480 from Photobucket without them being reduced in size. :teehee:
