A Christmas Gift

just got me thinking about all the poor dogs alone out there through the cold winter

inspired me to write a little poem .

christmas gift.

Its so cold and im so still as i lie here in the snow ,

why cant i just go inside ? i really just dont know .

I see the glittering fairly lights , the tree in all its glory,

but you see, this time last year was such a diffrent story

I was bought for the children , a puppy, so cute and sweet ,

my new family was wonderfull at first , the kind you long to meet.

Everyone loved me for the first few days ,

then they said id have to go if i didnt mend my ways.

Alone all day i cried and cried ,

but no one came , no matter how hard i tried .

The neighbours complained , said i was no good,

but i still wagged my tail as hard as i could.

The boredom took hold and i chewed stuff up,

i couldnt help it , im only a pup.

So one year on ,here i am alone ,

lying in the snow , chilled to the bone.

The end is near, of that im sure ,

i will walk towards heavens door.

with my head held high and eyes so bright,

the angels above will love me tonigh .

Kris if you want to cross post this one too , i wrote this last year , most of you wilol remember it but again if people want to use it to help rescues , im happy

THEY ROAM THE STREETS , COLD AND ALONE,

NOT KNOWING WHY THEY HAVE NO HOME.

THEIR MEMORIES WANDER TO DAYS GONE BY ,

AND LET OUT THEIR PITIFULL , MOURNEFULL CRY.

LAST WEEK HE WAS LOCKED IN A GARDEN SHED ,

NOT KNOWING 7 DAYS LATER HE WOULD BE DEAD.

7 DAYS ,, I HEAR YOU SAY ,

YES MY FRIEND , THIS DOG IS A STRAY.

CAUGHT BY THE WARDEN , ALL HE WANTED WAS A FRIEND,

NOT KNOWING HE WAS BEING LED TO HIS END.

THE POOR LITTLE FELLA JUST WANTED TO PLEASE,

8 YEARS OLD AND RIDDLED IN FLEAS.

HIS OLD OWNER COULDNT BE BOTHERD WITH HIM,

SO OUT HE WENT , LIKE RUBBISH TO THE BIN.

TOO OLD TO BE TREATED FOR HIS ILLS,

VETS CHARGE A FORTUNE FOR THE PILLS.

SO START AGAIN WITH A NEW PUP,

NOT LONG NOW , THEY WILL MESS THIS ONE UP.

THEY LAY ON THE BARE STONE FLOOR , AWAITING THEIR FATE,

THIS WILL COME TO THEM ON DAY 8.

SO SPARE A THOUGHT IF YOU CAN,

THEIR ARE LOTS OF DOGS LIKE THIS LITTLE MAN.

PLEASE DONT CONDEM YOUR DOG TO A PITIFULL END,

AFTER ALL , HE WAS ONCE YOUR BEST FRIEND

Oh they are such sad poems, yet even more sadly so true. Going to my local rescue centre this week as I do every so often with a tray of tinned food and a bag of mixer. Doesn't seem much I know but if it helps just a little bit...
