Hi there,

our Cavapoo Alfie is now 11 weeks and all in all he's pretty good, sit, stay etc but come 7-half 7 he goes mad, running around, biting shoe laces etc, etc. he's fed at six with a mixture of kibble and little bit of dog food, we play with him throughout the day and have started taking him out for walks. is there anything we can do to get him to calm down?

Thanks,

Cava

Hi there.

My boys are 6 months, 6 years and 6.5 years. This in our house is known as the crazies and happens every day at key times.

You get used to it :)

ahhh, its just his mad half hour!! :)

aah the zoomies! Dude still does it at around 6ish in the evening and he's nine! I love it. When my very messy old housemate used to tidy her room, he would go in there and be so excited to see the floor he would go a bit nuts, and bounce around off stuff barking and being silly.

I used to have a kitten that did the same, he would stick his tongue out and his eyes would go massive and he would attack everything in the room and literally bounce of the walls. It was pretty scary the first couple of times.

Best just to stand back and laugh, its just pure fun on their part, burning off a bit of excess energy. Perhaps get a tuggy rope toy to distract him from your shoelaces!

Aww I love the mad half hour lol!! Cats get it too - so funny to watch!!!

My guinea pigs have a mad half an hour, they either chew the house or do laps around the cage.

Oreo does it too. She takes it out on her rope toy, she will fling it in the air and catch it then shake it like mad. She will do this every day around 8 ish and is a walking tornado. I tend to take her out into the back garden and this seems to minimise the damage :)

Must be an animal thing?
