Well, the frost is setting in and the racing is over and Michelle, Rory (Red Reign) and I have finished our 1st year racing.

And, overall it was great. Rory loved it, we loved it, and generally enjoyed travelling around. Fordingbridge week was excellent, a real shame they ain't doing the same next year. Most people we met were friendly and encouraging wherever we went. The comments in the Whippet News and IRG monthly about Rory were pleasing and satisfying, a terrific summer/autumn.

My only gripe is that I have made comments on here that have been thrown back in my face, and I have stayed away because of that. Firstly I jokingly suggested that the bar was small at Warwick, I actually got approached by fellow racer at the track and was told I should keep my mouth shout! Failing to mention I acutally praised the track.....and the bar comments were a joke :)

I also griped about travelling 250 miles in a day and suggesting opens should all have consolation racing, cos it's a long way to travel and only get one run...and yes the same thing happened, people thought I was slagging the organising club...I wasn't, it was an opinion, of which we are all entitled.

So at the end of the day, my thoughts are whippet racing is great fun, but the griping needs to addressed so more people are attracted to the sport, cos we personally quit, because of the above...

Best wishes to all for the festive season, and good luck to all next season...

You have quit??? or could quite easily have quit???

I'm confused now Paul, is it a misprint?

Hope you haven't, sincerely.

Mutleys right you need to be thick skinned, or just plain thick would do.lol :D

the biggest draw back in this sport is having a good dog, so the futures not looking too rosy for you the way that Rory is running. :w

Best wishes for the festive season and good will to all for the whole of 2004!

IRG meetings guarantee 2 runs at least :D

Sorry, I did make an error, I meant NEARLY QUIT, would of been unfair on the dog that!

PHEW !!! Don't scare us like that :(

Almost fell of me chair ...

We are coming up to the end of our second season racing ... that long really !!!

Decided now that the good bits of racing get gooder (don't get on me about my grammar I QUIT SCHOOL !!!), sadly some of the nasty bits seem to get worse ... but luckily I don't have the problem (can you call it that ?) of having a good dog ... at least not yet ... :p

:)

dont leave paul expand and get a companion for rory, have you not caught the bug yet .WHEN ONE IS NOT ENOUGH?

:D :D :D :D :D

Yeah, I have got the got the bug! I love all whippets, lurchers and greyhounds, and I very nearly had a pup out of SINDAR X MICKS MYSTERY. But, my dog is not yet 18 months and I'll always keep him, so I need to concentrate on him for awhile and then get another pup. As Dave advised me, because my dog is kept indoors, if I had too many I'd be out of the sport in 6 years, and this isn't want I want...Because like I said I DO ENJOY our Sunday's, and although the gripping does irritate, I do intend to keep racing...

Kind Regards,

Paul
