My 13wk old miniature poodle is attached to me so much so that he follows me everywhere and whines if I leave the room... I can't even go to the toilet! He gets very anxious when I leave the house, but isn't like it with my partner or son. I don't make a fuss of him when I leave and when I come back I ignore him until he calms down. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to deal with this?

OK I'll give that a go. We haven't left him on his own yet, he has my partner and son with him but he ignores them and cries. Thank you!

Our puppy is 16 weeks and the same in the house, although he will play on his own in the garden for about an hour sometimes. Once a week (Saturday evening when we order a takeaway) I give him a juicy marrowbone in his crate when the delivery comes: that occupies him for the length of most movies.

He usually sleeps through the night, unless he has had a lazy day. My work is as a forestry inspector and most days I am out on site visits with him so he gets a lot of exercise. He sleeps at night in a crate next to our bed, he wakes us to go out for a wee after 6,7, or 8 hours but goes back to sleep afterwards. Here he is: running in the snow on a forest track. running in the snow.jpg

Aww thank you he’s lovely

Hi Sarah, wondered how you're getting on with the separation issues? My 11.5 week old GSD is exactly the same. He makes such a fuss if I walk out of a room but doesn't bat an eyelid when my husband leaves! Yet he is settling well at night and no longer cries at all..last night was my first back in my own bed, after spending the last 2.5 weeks sleeping downstairs. But during the day, I can't go to the toilet, go upstairs, or into another room without panic setting in. Hoping as he discovers the big wide world he'll become less clingy!

Careful what you wish for!:) Mine discovered the big wide world, concluded that it's very safe and exists primarily for entertainment purposes, and is essentially one huge playground with lots of playmates there of all kinds, ready to chase and be chased at any time of day and night! :D There are times when I wouldn't mind him being a little bit clingy.
