I THINK THIS IS A COMPLETE FARCE AND DOESNT TEST THE WORKING LURCHER
Hmmm!!!!!!!

Anyway, to answer the original question I think the last chance to qualify is Sandringham Game Fair in a couple of weeks and the finals are at Gloucester in October.

I'm sure somebody in the know will be along later.

its not a farce and it is not intended to test the working lurcher it is purley to race the dogs the fastest and best at the finals will walk away with £1000 guineas simple. all dogs must wear muzzles 4 dogs to a heat maximum. and as with all racing we try to ensure the safty of all both canine and human.

good point roger , heats should also only be 2 dogs , as theres a few that run this competition do veer to the right causing interference thus causing others not a true race, however , we dont organise it , but teething problems should be sorted out by now , so theres no interferences happening , ---- just my opinion though -----also if 2 dog slips , there could be an independant slipper so theres no (cheating) quick slips.

only way to do that is to use traps that would be fun to see

Oooh traps bring it on...... (w00t) (w00t) lol

The problem with the qualifying heats is that it is all down to logistics and time. 100yd dash, 1000 guineas, showing and main arena commitments on the same day is tight.

Qualifiying, running 2 dog heats takes up more time hence 4 dog heats and all 4 finalists (As long as they run) qualify.

Traps? Transporting them around the country would be a real pig.

The slipping of the dogs is always going to be a problem as somebody will always moan. As it happens we have only a had a couple of "false starts" all season.

And like they say " You can please some of the people, some of the time, but you can't please all of the people, all of the time". :teehee:
