Thanks Lucie. We went out on a short journey yesterday - not great.
We have to go in the car each week to get to puppy training so hopefully we'll see an improvement!
I too would love to go to Devon/Cornwall but that seems a long way off !
Mine (7 months) doesn't like the car.
She wants to sit in the front but that's not where she should be.
I plan to put her in the car when we're at home, without going anywhere so she gets used to it.
i need her to be ok in the car as i need to be able to travel with her.
Thank you both.
Is it the bone shaped kong or the other one? she hasn't been bothered about them before but she does go through phases so I can try again.
We have a webcam in the room and generally she sleeps or does a bit of chewing - up to now, things she is allowed to chew.
we still leave...
Hi All,
We have a 7 month old pup and work full time. We both have flexible hours but I do feel guilty leaving the little one even though it is only for a couple of hours at a time.
Does any one have suggested pass times or other coping strategies?
I think a dog walker/sitter would help but the...
We also give boiled egg (including shell), yoghurt, cheese. We couldn't find pumpkin so went for butternut squash which is the closet we could get (this started before halloween :) )
Carrots always go down well too and she loves to play with, and eventually eat, a cherry tomato.
Thank you for all the replies.
On the first night, which I think was Saturday, our puppy was quite distressed and her ears kept going back and she would come to us for comfort, but she seems to have become more used to them as the period went on and she now doesn't seem particularly bothered...
Puppy is six months now and so far we've had worming tablets from the vet which have been prescribed during visits for other things such as the vaccinations.
Now we need the next supply but do not need to go to the vets for anything else.
So, question is, do we go to the vets for the next 3...
it's that time of the year which I normally enjoy, but this year I have a puppy and she's not so keen.
Yesterday she was in the garden having a wee and a firework went off mid flow. She bolted inside and needed consoling for quite a while.
Any tips to get through this period?
It's a tough one!
My little one gets on the sofa and goes to sleep on me and I love it!!!!
There is definitely too much information around these days.
We've not started training yet - hopefully in november - not sure how that will go.
I hope it all works out for you.
Just an update on the fishy bum saga. :)
i'm not exactly why/how, but this has gone away by itself.
harder stools help and we also fed her some squash which was expected to help.
That's interesting Michele.
When mine barks I go straight to her to try and reassure/calm her, which is the opposite of what you do.
she has just started to find her voice and barks at any deliveries to the house. she also barks at the neighbours which is not ideal :)
Our 5 month chews our arms when excited.
I don't mind it sometimes, but on occasion now it's becoming quite a strong bite !
I've tried the turning around and ignoring her but it hasn't done a lot. if i persevere hopefully it will work eventually!
he's not at all interested in the kong. loves...
Thanks Josie. The dreaded fishy bum indeed.
Is it likely to go away unaided or is there anything we can do?
it's interesting what you say about getting scared as she has had a couple of stresses recently - like new people to bark at outside the house which didn't use to bother her but she has...
We feed her rice and mince - chicken or beef and broccoli or carrot. plus a bit of royal canin as a topping.
we bought the most enormous bag of royal canin and we're trying to use it up, but prefer cooking her food.
Her poos seem ok ... some times she goes and then does another. not sure if...
Hello,
Puppy, approx 5 months old, has started to have a fishy smell.
I've done some searching and it seems it is anal glands. there's lots of info, but I wondered if someone could help me make sense of it.
Some say go to the vet, others to the groomer. iF I could sort it by diet i would much...
We're planning on going away for a weekend so puppy will sleep in our room whilst we're away. I'm a bit concerned her routine will be disrupted so she might be unsettled when we go ....and also when we come back???!!! hope not!!
I reckon she will love sleeping in the same room though :)
