We very occasionally leave Evie for 4 hours but prefer no more than 3. We spent a long time when she was a puppy gradually building up the time she was left from 5 minutes to about 3 hours by the time she was 18 months, always with a full frozen Kong. She's now two and a half and shows no signs...
I'm afraid she didn't say and I didn't ask. Last year a different vet (same surgery) recommended the tic collar which Evie wore quite successfully. To be honest that is what I went back for this year but saw a different vet who said that she would really recommend bravecto as a much more...
We did the same for our dog when she was a puppy. They worked beautifully and it took about ten minutes to train her. They still hang on the back door handle (she's now over two) and she always rings them when she wants to go out. Also very useful when we visit other people's houses as we...
I tried many, many different training techniques to stop my dog pulling. We went out every day on lead from age 12 weeks. At 13 months I gave up and bought a halti collar. Magic! She's now over 2 and we are still using the halti. I usually leave it off on our return journey, after she's had...
Evie had her first dose of Bravecto yesterday!! I had no idea there was all this controversy around it. She's had loads of ticks in last few weeks and vet recommended Bravecto. So I have my fingers crossed. So far, so good.
Evie's new cool coat arrived today. Excellent. She seems very happy with it, she's had it on for a couple of hours and is even cool enough to relax in her bed as you can see.
Thanks for reply Joanne's, would you mind telling me how much you paid as their are several Prestige coats with quite a range of prices and they all look the same to me!
We used a crate for Evie when she was very young. It was a safe place for her to sleep, was never used as punishment and she was happy to be in there to sleep. We also had a play pen type attachment to the front of it for first few weeks which was handy when we needed her to be safe but...
Thank you everyone for your advice. That's really helpful. It's good to hear that AstroTurf seems to work well. I still need to get my head round having an artificial lawn but our current lawn does look a mess. I know I could follow her around with a hose and wash it away every time she pees...
We started taking Evie into pubs when she was quite young. Not for too long to start with and always after a good walk. We would also give her a healthy chew to munch on. She's now two and no trouble at all when we take her in pubs. She'll settle on the floor, although prefers to be able to...
Evie's peeing is ruining our small lawn and wondered if there is a solution. Have considered replacing with AstroTurf - and would be grateful to hear of anyone's experience of this. Thanks.
Have you considered going to puppy/dog obedience classes. I found these really helpful. i also found Kikopup an excellent website for tips and help with training.
This was one of the most difficult things to teach Evie. She now does it much less often but not sure it's because of my training or her growing up a bit (now 20mnths). We used to put her on lead if we saw people approaching especially if they didn't have dogs with them. Problem not helped by...
