    cleaning wounds

What can I use to clean wounds on my little whippets legs? She has managed to get some scrapes (nothing too major but definitely cleaned properly) so I can make sure they don't go infected? Thanks

"Nite, nite" - so where does your dog sleep?

In my bed during the week- in her crate at the weekends. She keeps me cosy!

How do i dry meat for treats?

We have some excess kangaroo chunks defrosted that Dolly won't get through. How do I dry them in the oven as treats for her??

What do you think of Crufts?

"In principle" I am not a fan for similar reasons to above. But there again I have dogs for pets and not for showing/breeding. But I do love to see all the different breeds :-) I probably have a biased view because of one of my dogs. He has a "good pedigree" and his brothers and sisters...

What type of feeder are you?

Dolly gets her set amount for breakfast and dinner until she finishes it - which is usually pretty quick - but not as quick as Cash....I swear that dog had magical powers in making food disappear whether it was his or not!!!

    So worried

Thanks you excuseme. I am feeling a bit better about it now and can look at pictures of him and smile at his cheekiness instead of bursting into tears. I am also going to make a little plaque that my dad will screw to the railway sleeper behind where is buried. It is so so difficult and they...

    What is your daily routine?

We get up between 5-6.30 depending on what my work is like for the day and have a long walk (we were doing 5 miles in the summer months but about 3ish just now) then Dolly has her breakfast and I have a cup of tea. We then have a little play with the toys then she goes back to sleep while I get...

Not liking the car - how can I help

I can't put her in the back seats as she doesn't settle there so it is unsafe. In the boot she sits down this seems to be the least stressful place for her. Thank you for your help. I am happy to work at it as long as it takes.

Is your dog literally your best friend?

Yes! my boy Cash who had to be pts on Christmas day was the best friend I ever had. When I got him I was with my ex who had working dogs and would be out all hours ad it was just Cash and I. he came everywhere with me and we had this remarkable bond. When we joined a new vet the receptionist...

Not liking the car - how can I help

Thanks Joanne. I will try sitting with her in the car with the engine off and build up to it.

Not liking the car - how can I help

Ah now I do have adaptil spray but have never used it in the car........silly me! She goes in the boot with a guard. I tried a crate in the boot of the car (because her crate is her favourite place in the house!) but it made her worse. Boot with her duvet and the dog guard seem to be best for...

Not liking the car - how can I help

Looking for some advice please. Dolly and I are adjusting to life just being the two of us! One thing I have noticed is her fear of the car. She has never been particularly keen on the car but Cash loved it and would spring right in anytime ready to go. Dolly just kind of followed but never...

    Bald and itchy whippet

Mine used to get wee red lumps in the spring in the grass. My blue boy had a bald tail which I worried about at first and then found out that blue and fawn whippets sometimes develop bald patches - particularly in winter. Something to do with the pigmentation!

    Whippet with upset tummy.

+1 for raw feeding. My boy had a sensitive stomach and countless allergies and raw solved it all! No exaggeration! I use Nutriment complete. I tried nature's menu but many of theres still have rice in which didn't suit him!

pet heat pads - how safe?

I have heard about the self heating heat pads for pets and wondered if anyone has any experience with them? My little Dolly dog doesn't like to be cold and is used to snuggling in with Cash to keep her cosy. I have been putting her fleece on her when I go out (when I am at home we snuggle...

    So worried

Thank you all for your kind words. I was really struggling with guilt at "signing his life away" so soon but I couldn't let him suffer. He was never going to get better and he went downhill so quickly that his last day was a happy one! Dolly is taking it all in her stride and doing a lot...

    So worried

Some sad news. After a terrible night and cash having difficulties with his breathing and general well being I had to make the decision to let him go this morning. I am heartbroken and riddled with guilt but I know it was the best thing for him . Dolly and I are completely lost

    So worried

I am willing to try it. The reason I was looking specifically for what the vet suggested was because I was unsure of any ingredients in others that may be unsafe. If tixylix is safe I am willing to try it! Thanks
