I know the feeling, we have got baggio (int/ir ch barnesmore goes zafonic~) in the whippets and 3 borzois in another hall so its going to be a mad dash to keep an eye on both rings :(
THE BEST OF LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE GOING. :huggles:
Sorry about that got caught off in my prime, Rodger and Patsy have used a number of American lines too. June Mins' Airscott Ruby Rascal also contains a large dose of american lines too. I can think of a number of other breeders botyh long gone and current who have made the lines work together. I...
Getting back to the original question. Shallfleet had and still do breed the very best english lines with the best of american lines, very successfully and Rodger
No a castrated dog wouldn't be placed as a judge should also be taking into consideration the ability of the dog to be able to reproduce. i.e. would bitch make a good brood bitch or a dog make a good stud. This has nothing to do with its ability to work.
Showing is not all about working ability...
I whole heartedly agree!! as long as a dog has at least one ticket and perhaps even two then an option to use 3 res cc's would be fair?? what do you think.
zafonic
i agree, but then we are back to the whole movement issue!! though i sometimes believe when watching people amble around the ring with their dogs that they forget that this is a true running animal and not a breed developed for the same reasons as a lapdog!!
Ireland is very difficult to get a...
i would also like to say how brilliant this thread is, it has had more replies than most of the rest put together and what a great way for us all to share our thoughts on what we are looking for and how truly an international breed the whippet has become. :huggles:
it is interesting, how though the americans have thier own desired choices, when they have come to judge here in ireland more often than not it is the very english type that they put up! 3 of our baggio's (ir/int ch barnesmore goes zafonic) cacibs came from american judges and he could not be...
i have to agree with patsy. too many hounds today do odd things with thier legs and still win, this is still a running animal and when at pace there should be no chance of legs hitting each other as the animal would naturally fall. when watching a whippet gallop the hind legs are kept well...
i dont quite understand why a whippet shouldn't have a fall away. I dont advocate a borzois topline, however a borzoi has a greater fall away than a whippet because it has a greater rise in the top line. if a whippet didnt have any fall away it would have a topline similar to most of the working...
as an international judge of the show pony i am always looking for a long low action with true drive from behind. the show pony is a distinct breed in the uk and is not just a "pony to show" of any breed, a supremely elegant animal with no jarrs or exagerations. In whippets i look for the same...
i must thank whoever put the picture of my bitch sbis, bis & ir ch Barnesmore Black Orchid on this thread (though the pic is actually copyright to irish canine press!) I was delighted that seraphina chose to point out her correct angulation both front and back, though the pic does make her look...
I think that it is very difficult to assess any animals angles etc without seeing then in true life, getting hands on them and be able to genuinly assess thier virtues or not as the case maybe. Photos can be very misleading and a very good animal can be made to look terrible and transversly a...
Hi there,
we are new to the community. Have to say we are over the moon with Baggio's cc & b.o.b!! Just one more to go. Peter has done a great job with him while baggio has been on holiday in jersey with him, as he is also top dog all breeds in the channel islands. All the rest of his children...
