Hello all, my lovely Whippet Folly gets worried every evening. It starts around five and she only relaxes about seven. It has been the same for quite a time and I think it is related to fireworks last November 5th, (though obviously I do not have proof of this). Does any body have any ideas...
He all, first my Whippet is 11 and is fit and healthy. But unfortunately I have a problem with my ankle, most days I am able to take her out for her walks but every now and again it is very painful. On those days I could take her for short walks or use a mobility scooter to take her for a longer...
I do realize people will not be able to identify at a distance but I am looking for ideas. For about two weeks Folly, my 10 1/2 year old Whippet, has been looking what I can only describe as worried. First thing each day she is fine then mid morning she starts, she goes in to alert mode and will...
I would like to congratulate you for the very informative write ups you have put on the site. (Although when I started reading the resource guarding one I initially thought no way, then read on and realized you were starting by explaining what not to do). I am sure they will help many people at...
Last Saturday, my Whippet Folly was running round like her usual idiot self near tea time. She then suddenly screamed and could not control her back legs properly. A panic ring to the vets and taking her in followed. She was kept in over night and saw a specialist vet on Sunday. Put simply she...
To start I will say I am not in the slightest bothered but a couple of things puzzle me. First, during the day when Folly is sleeping on the sofa, armchair or occasionally a dog bed, she sleeps with her legs neatly tucked up. But over night under the duvet in my bed her legs are always stuck...
One of my grandsons is Autistic, lately he has been having a 'melt down' refusing to go out and not talking to the few people he allows to visit him. I was in the area, (I live 5 hours away), so I called in with Folly. Now they have met before and Folly likes him, and indeed he likes Folly...
I recently spent a week in hospital, being a nicotine addict I struggled out a few times the first day. Outside each time their were a number of people either smoking or vaping. On the second day, we arranged a time and my friend brought my lovely girl Folly to visit. Yes it was lovely to see...
Hello, first I had a couple of days with a leg problem and Folly picked up I wasn't right. I then spent nearly a week in hospital during which she stayed with my friend, (they know each other very well). Since I have been home Folly does not want to let me out of her sight. I have taken her out...
I do a bit of training with my Whippet Folly, I have trained quite a few breeds over the years. I am not interested in competitions just training to enjoy things with my dogs. Now Folly is good at most things, Heelwork, ok she doesn't do the Collie head turned on to my hip but that's fine I...
I just wish to let people know how proud I was today with Folly. A friend and I went out for lunch and of course Folly came with us, a family sat near us and it was obvious the elderly lady was suffering with dementia. No big problem to us but she did ask the same questions many times. She loved...
I wonder if anyone can explain my Whippets reactions. First she is normally quite happy to meet dogs, provided they approach quietly. But she is not at all happy meeting large black dogs, except she is ok with the odd black Greyhound we have come across. Most of the time when there is plenty of...
I went to DogFest north yesterday, a very enjpyable day out. But one bit I did not like. The dock diving. I have seen it before and enjoyed it but yesterday when we were there two different dogs were being tried one after the other. Both obviously neither knew what was happening nor wanted to go...
Just wondering if others have a special time. For me, in a morning I get up put my dressing gown and slippers on, come down and let Folly out in the garden. Brew a mug of tea, get the paper from the front door and sit in a comfy chair. Folly jumps up, we have a couple of mins fussing then she...
Just a little question, in the Forum Rules, as well as the ones that make sense their is 'Do Not Over Up Threads'. Now I for one have no idea what that means.
The Sun inn in Crook near Kendal is very dog friendly. Dogs allowed in the bar / restaurant area as well as the outside eating area. The staff tend to fuss dogs and supply a blanket for them to be comfy on as well as giving them treats. I also enjoy their meals.
Just want to say my lovely girl Folly last night passed the KC Good Citizen Gold. I am over the moon, yes I know it does not compare to obedience championships but to me its brilliant.
As the title says, just what has happened, we have a post apparently trying to sell a monkey, and numerous ones trying to get people to get a visa etc from non official channels. Is their no way of ideally stopping them before they post or deleting them soon after they post?
Hello all, I am wondering if any one can help. I have an 8 yr old Shih Tzu, he has been diagnosed with nerve sheath cancer. It affects his front right leg and unfortunately their is no treatment for him. In himself he is the same happy little chap he always has been and does not appear to be in...
I have been wondering, I understand all dogs need to carry an ID tag when in public, but what happens legally at things like Whippet racing, dog agility and dog shows, when the dogs do not have a tag. For sure at racing, for safety reasons the dogs do not have a collar on and I understand...
