Has anyone used Advocate as a flea treatment?
I have been using Frontline successfully since I got Biddy but have found 2 fleas on her, luckily she has got white fur so they were easy to see as she is not the best for being examined
I phoned the vet and she suggested trying Advocate first as it...
Without going into a long story about everything (am grasping at straws now after different products and unsuccessful vet apps) just wanted to know if anyone has tried this for skin problems and itching. Would welcome comments from anyone who has tried them
There have been so many issues with Biddy that this is one that I thought was sorted but has returned with a vengeance. She has scaly scurfy types of skin on her chest and stomach, almost like thin scabs.
I have been to 3 different vets concerning this in the past (all gave differing views from...
I've had biddy 13 months and she has made amazing progress. Her physical problems are almost all sorted but I do not think she is ever going to to be your normal happy go lucky type of dog but as long as she is as happy as she can be that is ok
She has had free reign for 12 months, everything...
None of my friends or relatives seem to have the same problems I do with feeding a correct dog diet yet here I am again.
After receiving excellent advice from this site about everything regarding Biddys health and especially about raw feeding and after reading Honeys natural feeding I decided to...
I have a problem with my little mutts teeth
She has already had 12 tooth extractions due to plaque build up and bad diet (Ithink}
She will not let me clean her teeth, have also tried the finger tip option, she will not let me do much really
The vet has said there is a little bit of plaque build...
Have been thinking about and looking into raw food feeding for some time, I do think it could solve some of my dogs problems
She is a rescue and had a lot of problems, I have had her for nearly a year and we have had some difficulties along the way but hopefully things are getting better and I...
In less than 12months have been to vet for general check up, tooth abscess, ear infection, teeth extraction, anal glands, skin problem, 'sleep in both eyes needed cleaning' and dandruff like stuff on head, basically have spent a fortune and ended up complaining and moving to a different vets
I...
Have tried many foods but in the end chose to feed my dog Tails.com food
I know it is supposedly not the best but I am always able to get the small 150g trays, it is wet enough to mix with kibble and I can see the meat and veg in it. More importantly Biddy loves it
I was advised to feed her a...
I recently attended vets for another reason but pointed out dry, flaky patches of skin on biddy which seemed to be getting worse, there were darkened patches of thick dandruff like stuff
At first the vet thought she had some kind of fungal skin infection but said the skin seemed healthy beneath...
I have had a dog for 8 months. She is 9 yrs old and was the most stressed, frightened and nervous dog I have ever met in my life. I am an active 70 yr old and was determined to give this little mutt the best life she could have
We only have the choice of 2 vets here and both of them are big...
I had a bit of a shock on Fri when I called into vets to weigh Biddy properly and found she was 3.6kg not 3.3 as I had thought. Obviously weighing her wrong
It was really hard last year to get her down to 3kg as advised by the vet and took many months but that was when she was quite scared and...
I've had Biddy coming up to 8 months months now. She's a tiny 9 yr old Jack Russel cross
We have had lots of problems along the way not least to do with feeding. She was grossly overweight and I had to get her down to 3 kg as advised by the vet
I eventually reached the target after months of...
Would love some advice or opinions on things I am concerned about
I have a 9 yr old small dog who is getting better all the time but is still very nervous, stressed and scared
She had 12 teeth out in Sep last year and I swore after that experience I would never put her through anaesthetic again...
Where do I start?
It is coming into the 7 month that I took over Biddys care and she is now coming up to 9 yrs old
We have made great progress in many areas but there is still a lot of negative behaviour, I am beginning to think that she went through a lot more than I initially thought. I do...
I have had Biddy for 13 weeks now and she has made amazing progress
She is a lot happier, approaches strangers now and lets them touch and pet her, her tail wags a lot more and she no longer hides behind furniture or under chairs
I think a lot has to do with the fact she has got over her teeth...
Have had a bit of a rough time with biddy over last 4 days
I have only had her for just over 9 weeks and she was gaining confidence and coming on fantastically until last Thursday when I took her to the vets to have 2 teeth out
They explained that she would have blood test and x-rays before...
Have taken Biddy out for walk this morning and she was passed some mucousy stuff and nothing else
That got me worried as she normally has a poo twice in the morning and once in the evening sometimes more, when I got in I searched the house and she has done 2 piles not in the kitchen but on my...
It is 8 weeks tomorrow since I have had Biddy and she has improved immensely
No more hiding in corners or cowering on her belly
She runs up to strangers now where she ran away before, she loves going out for walks and practically does a somersault when she see's her lead, she sleeps in the open...
I want to start by thanking everyone on here for your guidance and advice otherwise I do not think I could have coped
Biddy has so improved, I have kept her name because the son of the previous owner wanted to come and see and walk her. I agreed and she was excited to see him, after 40 mins he...
