Good grief, that’s a ratio of 15:1,000 or 3:200 or 1:67! Mabel’s something of a foodie (and a drama queen), would she pick up the flavour in that? I await her discernment. Many, many thanks.
Thank you, JudyN. I was thinking of that as the Oralade bottle carries the legend "100% Natural Chicken Flavour". I'll have to make up small batches to freeze.
Thank you both. We always have a supply of Oralade - is it safe to use thawed from the freezer and then re freeze?
JoanneF, you add a tbs (of the spring water?) to some tap water?
Mabel’s been through a few days of the runs. At first I put it down to the latest batch of raw having thawed slightly upon arrival. It can’t be that as she’s been off raw for about five days and her motions are still inconsistent from solid, semi-solid to 100% liquid. Yesterday morning she...
Good on you for prioritising your dog’s needs. Afraid I can only feel for your loss. I’ve never ‘sold’ an animal in my life - was broken hearted when we had to return a whippet to his original owners as, after a few weeks, he couldn’t settle with us and was very unhappy. I’ve given baby Guinea...
Quite agree. We also had similar experience with our first rescue - actually, we found her ‘lost’ at six months. According to the local whippet rescue rep. she was probably abandoned by travellers. Anyway, she was terrified of other dogs and, on one occasion, was attacked by another dog. Her...
Pottering about on an interesting beach with calm, unruffled and loving owners - with the thought that there was a lovely fire waiting for me at home - all interspersed with mad bouts of euphoric dashes. Sighthound through and through. Plus a tolerance of oysters. Sorry, my medication’s playing up.
They are gorgeous creatures and make a lovely humming noise of content. We have some not far from us and they're wonderful. I always think of sighthounds when I see them - it's all legs and a long neck.
Sus, I can empathise with you 100%. Perhaps it’s a rescue dog trait (a leftover from a past trauma). Remember they seem to have enhanced E.S.P and can pick up on moods. I’ve found that if I’m relaxed in spirit Mabel’s fine. Furthermore if I laugh she wags her tail - she picks up on my moods...
Perhaps I’ve come into this thread somewhat late. If I’m wanting to attract her attention when she’s engrossed elsewhere a sibilant ‘pssst’ is my starter. If that doesn’t work a clearing of my throat with “ahem” is next. Success is rewarded with a treat and praise. I love those shepherds’...
In which case you have two very grateful rescued English setters and a rescued retriever thing and I’ve lost a lovely neighbour with a keen sense of smell.
My modus operandi is similar to JudyN’s. Just an antibacterial wipe down of the work surface after the food’s been put down for her - including surface protector and weighing scale. By this time (actually much sooner!) she’ll have finished her meal. I wash her feeding bowl by hand followed by a...
What breed is she? I know that sighthounds have traits which aren't the 'norm' for most breeds. Mabel (whippet) assumes a crawling/swimming posture with her hind legs fully stretched out behind as though she's inviting me to pick them up for a wheelbarrow race. I also once met and chatted with a...
