Collar Leads vs. Harness Leads For Training Large Dog

Bax has a bit of a lurcher build despite being a terrier (thick neck, barrel chest, and tiny waist) and i had really good luck with the Ttouch harness'. i especially liked the options for the leads. every harness comes with a front clip and two back clips (one up by the collar and one down low...

Bit of a silly question, but...

Lead with collar or harness? Long lead?

I used a collar for starters but he quickly choked himself and with true terrier spirit refused to NOT choke himself. so we switched to a front clip harness and he's stuck to that pretty much since. at some point we switched to back clip.... im....not... sure....why? but it works pretty well.

    The Big Tick Project

Bax uses the Ceresto (sp?) collar and has for 2 years. very light weight flat grey plastic collar, smaller than his normal collar. its good for 6 months. we hike every week or so and he'd gotten a few ticks before but he hasn't since we started wearing the collar!
