<3 thanks judy and yeah all that. i'd love to be able to just go off adventuring and roadtriping with bax as much as id like but i have bills to pay.
Sorry if i seemed abrupt MrCW but you dont know bax. calmly snoozing on a bed in another room is 100% an improvement and it took long years of...
Im tempted to say OH is more of a UK thing, i never heard of it until i started visiting UK dog forums.... or maybe its just uk dog lovers that use it? =P
where I'm from(Western NY USA) we tend to use SO ( Significant Other) although that has a more same sex attraction connotations...
Bax is a strong independent terrier that doesnt give a fig for me whether im there or not. Some dogs might cling to their owners and need constant assurances of their presence every four hours but Bax isn't like that. he ignores me. He sleeps in the other room when im home. if bax were a needy...
I would consider it rude if someone started petting me and hugging me while i was eating so i dont do it to bax, that being said if he DOES have something he CANNOT have *cough* socks *cough* then i play the trading game.
I honestly don't know if he's still super guardy or not cause i always...
Speaking from experience, i have a terrier and i could never ever ever let him off lead because of his high prey drive. first squirrel he sees he'd disappear forever.
A) lots of dogs cant be let off lead for a variety of reasons and B) its not the end of the world.
beagles are sounding like...
Ill be honest, i have a 13lb rat terrier and i never move him. i know he doesn't like it. So he never gets picked up, NEVER gets carried, and if he's in a comfy spot on the bed i contort myself to sleep around him. are there times when he absolutely HAS to be picked up? yeah, but i try to avoid...
If your looking for a terrier LIKE a jack russel but not as intense i highly recommend rat terriers. similar look and temperament but much more willing to just chill on a couch (which is not to say they're lacking in energy, just that its LESS than a jack russel). only downside is that rat...
For me its the weather thats an issue. we get down to around -10F around here and people salt their walkways pretty rigorously and bax doesn't like wearing boots or a coat which means he basically doesn't get walks in the winter. I'll take him out quick in the early AM to pee and poo and then...
im less worried about his extended time alone (he seems to just shut down and snooze away the day) and more about when i AM there actually. he loves his hikes so much and we go so rarely. our daily walk around the block (1-2 miles) hardly does him justice. i feel like i was given a porsche and...
Havent found a proper mud puddle in ages despite our hikes which is a shame because Bax does enjoy a good wade and i tend to indulge him. that being said he hasnt had a bath in probably 2 years at least O.o still smells good, still white coat, just not bathed recently. how often do you guys bath...
ditto ing the kong and white noise. Bax has a white noise machine on 24/7 (it helps me sleep) and he always gets fed as im walking out the door so he doesnt notice im gone. he does tend to bark if i dont treat/feed him before i go
i would add though, this is what hes used to. i got him at 8 months and while he had littermates as a puppy they were all outside dogs and he didnt have much contact with humans. when he moved in with me i lived with my parents and sister. all of whom worked or went ot school. i was a full time...
