A major ingredient to successful partnership with an animal is one’s stability and settled situation. You need to ask yourself some searching questions. Would you be able to be ‘on tap’ as would a parent be for a child? There’d be sleepless nights. I admire that you’re taking the matter of dog...
A.I v Keith Moon? Forget it. I was forever being threatened with being replaced by a drum machine. Never happened. It all sounds amazing - our children and grandchildren live in ‘interesting times’ and they have my sympathies.
So many thanks for that. Will give it a thorough perusal when I’ve completed my tasks - think Mrs Ogmore-Pritchard (Under Milk Wood).
Once again, thanks.
I find such concepts very concerning if they progress beyond concepts. In the previous contributions we’ve had Descartes and shades of Sartre. Once we’re dependent on such we’ll be in trouble if the system goes T§Ts up. Sorry, it’s getting late. Telling my satnav to “go away” when it annoys me...
If that animal’s suffering the owner could be liable for a heavy financial penalty. Neither ignorance nor self-perceived lack of funds would be taken as mitigation. I appreciate that you need to be careful. Please keep the forum in the picture. I appreciate that the RSPCA may take their time but...
Hope (and please forgive me if it appears that I am) teaching someone to suck eggs (horrible phrase) as that’s far from my intention. Are you letting your imagination and/or very kind nature go into overdrive. When we adopted our rescue she was in one helluva emotional state and didn’t eat for...
You’ll have to start spelling words now. We couldn’t say ‘squirrel’ within the hearing of our previous two whippets. It was a pity we didn’t spell ‘Mrs Misery’ when referring to our village’s postmistress when we lived in Cornwall. Very embarrassing for me.
They seem to cope with it. One of our previous whippets suffered from gradual blindness. At first I was taking him down some stairs in a gloomy theatre and he was very cautious. A few years later we were in a gloomy crypt (I think it was a crypt) at St Davids and Blue wouldn’t go by a certain...
Really pleased that it’s worked out well. Like yourself I was grateful for the advice and support from the Forum with a very difficult newly adopted rescue whippet a few years ago. Like your chap she has a crate but we never shut it. I am somewhat dismayed at views from the ‘stuff and nonsense’...
There are rescue centres looking for potential adopters. Provided that you (without being too picky) can satisfy their criteria this may be a good option.
Thank you all. JudyN, you were fortunate with Jasper, getting Mabel into the sea without traumatising her would be as difficult as getting Boris to admit deception and apologise. You’ve all been very kind and I do appreciate it. I think I’ll just wipe her down with a wet towel and let her dry...
