    Guilty

Make sure he has choices in general, such as where he goes on a walk. Maybe lead him in a 'boring' direction and see if he hesitates, looks at you, looks in the better direction, etc. The more a dog can make choices (within reason) and communicate them to you, the better, IMO. If he knows he can...

Then I don't think you have anything to worry about :-)

    Dog and teen son

So just to clarify, the crate is in the kitchen and the dog only growls when he is in the crate and your son is in the kitchen? How is your son's eye contact - could he be looking at the dog in a certain way, e.g. a fixed stare? Have you tried using treats to help your dog warm to your son, and...

    Guilty

Not all spaniels are like Duracell bunnies - it sounds like he's just naturally chilled, and perfectly happy! If you're concerned you could try playing the odd game with him in between walks to get his brain cells ticking.

    Hello from West Yorkshire

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry for the loss of your Yorkie, and that your Staffie isn't doing well. Well done for fostering - it's so valuable, and something I'm considering doing myself one day.

Sold unwell 7 week old puppy - not disclosed

There's no rules against it, unless the photos are so awful they could be regarded as offensive. But in all honesty, I don't think they'd help. Personally, I wouldn't claim. The headache and stress involved probably wouldn't be worth anywhere near £100, and if the breeder claimed that the pup...

    Dog bed recommendations

I'm a big fan of Orvis beds - after having several beds that ended up lumpy, or flat, or in some cases humped to death, I've found that Orvis seem to last forever and are so comfortable I could sleep on one myself if it was just a little bigger. Buuuuut... they are very expensive and this may...

Unable to get over loss of pet

You are absolutely not alone - it is so, so hard to lose a dog, and for you it was very sudden, too, so even more of a shock. In the early days, you can feel as if you've been hit by a bus, and have physical symptoms. Neither my husband and I could sleep, we both felt as if we had flu, and for...

    A ferrety update

Hurrah, for a happy ferret :) Off topic a little, but I was sorely tempted by a pair of adult rats up for adoption at our local Pets@Home a few days ago. The one that was awake was a beautiful blue/grey, and very inquisitive. But the logistics involved, because we have cables everywhere, would...

    Strange off lead dog encounter

I can see that makes sense - though I'd seen Jasper interact with a whole range of dogs, doddery and otherwise, and for him, this was uncharacteristic. so I'm putting it down to something to do with the body chemistry of the other dog.

    Strange off lead dog encounter

That's definitely unacceptable behaviour. Sometimes, there is something about a dog that smells 'different' to other dogs so they respond in ways they wouldn't normally, so it's just possible that the lab isn't like this with other dogs. There was one male schnauzer that Jasper would follow...

    Labradoodle stairs training

If I remember rightly, I wasn't meant to let my large, long-limbed dog do stairs until he was 6 months old. He also wasn't meant to jump off sofas, and we put cushions on the floor in front of the sofa for when he inevitably did. I'm sure going upstairs is safer than down - we carried Jasper...

    Please help if possible

I'm guessing you were either trying to post a link, or quoting a post that had a link in - spammers sometimes quote a post and amend the link within the quoted bit... Do say if there's anything in particular you want to post but can't, and I should be able to help.

Finding the right amount of food for a wet/raw diet

If she isn't underweight I'd maybe add the salmon oil and monitor her weight. If it continues to drop, then just up the quantity of her normal food a little.

Finding the right amount of food for a wet/raw diet

Are you giving her the amount suggested on the tinned food? Salmon oil is often recommended to give her a shiny coat, so you might want to consider that.

    Hi my name is Sharon

There's no need to apologise, Shaz:) No one (including me) reads all the full rules and regulations when joining a forum, so my post was in no way a 'telling off'.

    Hi my name is Sharon

Hi Sharon, I'm so sorry you're in this position. You must be very frustrated at the PDSA's response. Unfortunately, we have a strict rule that prohibits asking for money on the forum so I've had to edit your first post to remove that part, and deleted your second post. I really hope that you're...

    Please help if possible

The ingredients list of the Pro Plan food don't look great: Composition: Maize starch*, hydrolysed soya protein**, minerals, coconut oil, sugar*, rapeseed oil, soya oil, fish oil. * Purified carbohydrate sources ** Protein source. It has been suggested that maize starch, the main ingredient...
