    Elimination diet?

Diesel has a nasty bout of colitis as yet cause undiagnosed. Vet has prescribed antibiotics and a few days of chicken and rice to settle his tum. Of course just realised that we’ve always had him on a cereal free diet to avoid sensitivities common to boxers. So would mashed spuds be a good...

    On a mad one

Same here. Baby gates on any room we need to exclude diesel from but still allow him to see what’s going on. He gets a bit narky if we’re behind a closed door and he can’t see us!

    Injured carpal pad

Thanks all. Just had a stroll around local streets and it’s definitely Not bothering him which is good. Being where it is it’ll really only touch the ground when he runs or stops/turns at speed so no off leash running for a few days which won’t please him!

    Injured carpal pad

That’s good to know thanks. Not sure about a hoot though. We tried a bandage and he had that off in a flash.
  5. Diesel's Dad

    Injured carpal pad

Vet nurse has looked at the pictures and advised salt water bathing should do the trick. Think I may take him for a proper vet opinion in the morning!
  6. Diesel's Dad

    Injured carpal pad

He gave me a real scare today! "walking" our usual woodland route and I noticed Diesel's front right foot was totally covered in blood! He didn't cry out or anything and seemed happy running round as usual but obviously very concerning. I gave it a quick wipe and applied pressure with...

    Prey drive

Same here with Diesel. Once he has a scent there is zero chance of getting his attention.

    Diesel’s Doggy Diary

I’ve been very remiss is not updating this since December! So many milestones past that I could write all day long and not cover half of the shenanigans he’s been up to! So in no particular order here’s a quick rundown of the last 7 months! Basic puppy training passed ok but boundless...

    Baby Miles - The Opportunist

Lost count of the number of shoes, slippers and flip-flops our lad has pinched and destroyed. A boxer with a shoe fetish!

    Tick study?

After getting his first few ticks last week I’d like to give this a go to protect our boy. Can’t find on the App Store, what’s its exact name again? Many thanks DD

    Boxer Gait - hips knackered?

thanks all. yes of course will ask the vets for an opinion. The vets we use were amazing with our dearly departed kitties but yet to be convinced they have half a clue about larger breed dogs. we always seem to end up seeing recently graduated vet who has little real experience. Due to pop down...

    Boxer Gait - hips knackered?

Hi all, Totally out of the blue whilst walking Diesel just now a fellow dog walker said “lovely dog, shame his hips are knackered”. Apparently he’s walking funny! I asked what made him say that and his comment was that he's had many big dogs over the years and apparently my pup walks like his...

    Dodsley the boxer

Being the owner of a 7 month old boxer pup all I can do is wish you luck! Not sure your experience of the breed but their energetic and stubborn nature takes quite some work and patience to say the least! We’ve enlisted a retired police dog trainer to help with our lad Diesel and in his view...

Miles The Ridgeback - a month makes a difference!

Meeting out friends Great Danes. Advice?

Hi all, Diesel is now 20 weeks and still a mental bundle of energy. Next weekend we’re due to meet and walk with our best friends and their dogs. A bit of a walk by the Thames, running on long leads then hopefully pass out knackered in the pub while we have a beer and chat! I’m so keen that...

    A Very Sad Day

Why do dogs sleep like this?

A few of diesels snoozy moments.

Why do dogs sleep like this?

Diesel has many weird sleeping poses. As long as he’s snuggled up to me or DM he doesn’t seem to care!

When to switch to adult food.

Thanks Judy. Some good info on the wolf Tucker site. Anyone else have any thoughts? DD
  20. Diesel's Dad

When to switch to adult food.

I’m sure this has been asked before but can’t find anything specific for boxers so any advice appreciated. Diesel is now 19 weeks and as of this morning 17.2kg. His diet is prepared raw foot from Narutal Instinct. Following the 6% rule he’s getting just over a kilo per day. We weigh him and...
