    Occasional peeing indoors

6 month old Border Terrier. Well toilet trained from early on, always pees and poos outside. Crated overnight, goes from about 10pm until 7am no problem at all. BUT, just very occasionally, she pees inside with no warning, and with a small bark after the event. She's done it when she's had free...

    Best dog in the world

Have had our Border Terrier (Maisie) for just over 3 months now, since she was 8 weeks old. She has won the monthly BDitW contest 3 times in a row. OK, organised by me, and I may have omitted to send out any invitations, but hey, pretty good going don't you think??

    Over exercising puppy

I should have added that it's 10 minutes per month twice a day - so at the moment, that would be 2 times 30 minutes. Plus, the vet says she can do as much running about in the garden as she wants, so all in all, not too bad. And next month it will be 2 times 40 mins, then 50, then an hour, then...

    Over exercising puppy

Thanks for the info. I have spoken to vet, she recommends maximum 10 minutes walking for every month, up to 6 months, then whatever you like. So we have been overdoing it a bit after all. Thanks again.

    Over exercising puppy

I have a (currently) 13 week old Border Terrier bitch. I got her at 8 weeks, at 9 weeks she had her second set of vaccinations, at 10 weeks I started taking her for walks outwith the garden. She now regularly does a mile 3 times a day. She has done a 3mile walk in one go and another mile or so...

    New puppy next week!

Just an update. Things going much better than I could have hoped. Toiletwise, we still have a few peeing accidents, but they are getting less. She hasn't poo'd inside since the day we brought her home. Sleeps from about 11 till 6, and stays dry.(Well, usually!) Took her out today for her first...

    New puppy next week!

Thanks Sophie, but still a little confused. Should I be putting newspaper/puppy pads down on top of the vet bed material? (I'm clearly going to be needing a lot of help!!)

    New puppy next week!

Collecting our much anticipated Border Terrier puppy next Monday, at 8 weeks. Got the initial vet checkup booked, as well as the second set of vaccinations and microchipping. However, already a bit confused about bedding. We'll be using a crate, and have opted for the Savic 61cm model -...

Thanks Goldenbear, sounds like really good advice. (Are you by any chance also a motorhomer/caravanner?) Chris

    Travelling with very young puppy

Hi all, new to forum and looking forward to bringing new puppy home soon. Border Terrier, it will be just 8 weeks old. My question is, when can we reasonably start travelling in our motorhome? Does a young puppy need a period of stability in its new home, and if so, how long? The main priority...
