    Grieving desperately for my dog

I'm so sorry, grief is all consuming and utterly brutal. Have you considered contacting the Blue Cross counselling services that Judy linked in post #2?

    Belgian Malanois v German Shepard

For the reasons above, a protection dog would not be a good idea - I really suggest you look at intruder alarm systems instead.

Needing help advice for a harness for a big dog

@Vakhar Hussain several of your posts suggest this company, are you affiliated with them? But this is an old thread, I hope the OP has found something suitable by now.

    Tumbling Timber

That's us back from the vet. She examined him quite thoroughly, manipulated his head, and declared him absolutely fine. I'm so relieved. She also said his heart murmur was recorded on his records as a one, she would say one bordering on two but that might just be because he was a bit stressed...

    Tumbling Timber

Thank you. I've phoned the vet and changed his appointment to today, just for my peace of mind.

I think we cross posted again @JudyN !

    Belgian Malanois v German Shepard

As a guard dog? Honestly, I'd recommend you get a good security system instead, the Jack Russell you mentioned will alert bark, but a proper guard dog is not a pet. And, a properly trained guard dog will cost you about the same as a small car. This is what the law says - ”A person shall not use...

    Harness recommendations please

As previous posts have said - a strap across the chest like this restricts free shoulder movement and can cause orthopaedic problems. However, this thread was started a year and a half ago so I imagine the OP found a solution.

    Belgian Malanois v German Shepard

A great guard dog probably won't be good with kids. And, getting a dog to guard your property brings all sorts of problems when the dog can't distinguish between the burglar who is coming to rob you, and the paramedic who is coming to save your life. Is it really a guard dog that you need...

    Tumbling Timber

He got up out of bed at about 6.00 am and I got up too to make sure he was okay - I saw him wobble on the landing at the top of the stairs, then roll all the way down! It was like he was still half asleep and had just lost his balance. I've gently felt him all over, there are no obvious signs...

    How to Stop Scavenging

It's a really tough one. The obvious suggestions are to teach a good 'leave' and 'drop' but I know from experience that that won't cut it with some really high value finds. Timber got hold of something on the beach last year, it was so dead and decomposed that I don't know whether it had been a...

I'm glad to see you are feeling more positive about it, I really hope the Cytopoint works well for her.

    Dog skin tag or wart

It's always hard to say from a photo; it could be a wart but of course could be something else entirely. My take on lumps and bumps is that I treat them as if I would if I found something similar on myself. I don't rush to the doctors but if they don't go away, or if they get worse, I'd ask...

    Loose-lead training with part-time dog

Definitely makes sense. I'm not a massive fan of Michael Ellis, but I'm pretty sure he has some good stuff on building engagement.

    Loose-lead training with part-time dog

I don't have time to go into detail right now but if it isn't the same as Hemlock's technique, training loose lead walking without using a lead might be another option (essentially heavily rewarding a 'close to knee' position,).
