Thank you Flobo and JudyN, I have calmed down now and discussed my concerns with the vet I declined more steroids or a second month of Apoquell (vet is convinced that it is an allergy) even though it worked but came back within weeks of stopping, I do not want her on long term medication
She...
Am totally disillusioned with all advice and treatments from vet
Collected Simparica trio from vets and found that they had included worm treatment too. I said that I had not ordered it. They explained that it was ok to give flea treatment straight away as ingredients were different from...
Thanks for your suggestions, I will go with whatever the vet suggests tomorrow and maybe get worming tablets from them too though I think something is included with the Simparica trio, will find out anyway. Thanks JoanneF that makes sense going with whatever works
Thanks Tinytom, yes I have wormed her but wondering about the effectiveness of the products I am using
Am even more concerned about what flea product now
I decided to go through the vet for it rather than buy online as the prescription will cost 25 pound and I do not want to buy more than 3...
Thanks for that excuseme I will definitely give it a go. I have already changed her beds, hoovered and sprayed everywhere but guess I will have to do it again after I use the Advocate to make sure there are no more lurking about
Has anyone used Advocate as a flea treatment?
I have been using Frontline successfully since I got Biddy but have found 2 fleas on her, luckily she has got white fur so they were easy to see as she is not the best for being examined
I phoned the vet and she suggested trying Advocate first as it...
I would like to wish everyone a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year. I was going to start mentioning names but I would be here forever listing all the help I have had from this site. I would not have coped at all without the advice I have received after taking on a seriously stressed and...
Thanks feverfew that is good to hear, I know what you mean about vets being overcautious with timing of treatments and intervention (they wanted Biddy to attend every 8 weeks to have her anal glands expressed, it was Honeys that advised me against, and now I've found that the raw diet has...
A quick update on Biddy and her scurf, dandruff type stuff on head. I had a reply from Honeys where they advised using coconut oil to relieve dry itchy areas which I started to do and it did seem to be moisturizing her head and lifting the scurf
I continued with this until she started...
Thanks JudyN, I welcome all advice as I just do not know where to go next. Although the last vet was good and picked up on something that I did not know (Biddy hates me touching her or examining her beneath her fur or ears etc I have to hold her down at the vets) and the steroids and shampoo...
Thanks Feverfew, she has completed the course and she did come off them very slowly and there is improvement now but for how long I do not know
I have emailed Honeys for advice and will wait to hear from them. There is no point in me returning to the vet as none of them so far have been able to...
I totally agree with your answer, I will contact Honeys and see if there is anything they can suggest
At the moment she is just having their raw food diet and Nutripaw ALL-ITCH & immunity treats (am only continuing with them because the vet said it was ok and Biddy seems to like them, they are...
Managed to upload pics as best I could, I have a new laptop and am struggling with it a bit
Her head looks a bit of a mess but that is because of the stinky stuff on it but am at a loss as to what to next
I think I will get an anti dandruff shampoo and keep the Malaseb and Duoxo as standby
Update on Biddys condition.
I gave in and went back to vet as her head seemed to be getting worse and she was losing bits of hair.
Apparently her skin on body was very inflamed and she was commenced on course of steroids and Malaseb shampoo to be used twice weekly at first
She told me I could...
